    Hello,

I'm looking for some help if possible, i can design logos in Adobe Illustrator but i'm not sure what file type i should save them as. I want it so when i send the file to someone they can resize the logo without ruining the quality of the logo, also when i save the image as .jpg and preview it outside of Illustrator it looks smaller than i designed it.

Also what document should i design the logo in? Print, Web, Basic CMYK, Basic RGB etc?

    Thanks for any help.

Save the Illustrator file as standard as well as sending them the .jpg, and maybe a .png other than that I can't help you.

For print - AI or EPS (CMYK)
    For web - Jpg (RGB)

If you want JPG in bigger resolution, you have to set the resolution in export dialog.

yeah id definatly reccomend using .EPS in CMYK like neonic said if you want you or the client to easily be able to resize the vector without lack of quality.

You should save in as many formats as you can. I recommend:

AI, PDF, EPS, PSD, JPEG, TIFF and GIF as a minimum.

and if the person has photoshop, be sure to send them an .ai file, they are much lossy than a jpg.

and yeah, tiff is good, they don't compress the image, and are therefore the least lossy.
No point in saving them as ai adn psd, when photoshop can open ai files. png-24 can be much better than a gif with transparency, but beware when using them on web sites, pretty much any <ie6 browser will display the transparent parts as white, as they don't interpret them properly.

Regarding the size..... Illustrator works in Points whereas Windows nd photoshop work on Pixels.

so make sure u r working with units set as pixels in illustrator as well so that the size is the same. CHOOSING PIXELS WOTN EFFECT THE QUALITY, ITs JUST THE MATTER OF UNITS.

    hope i helped.
