So here's my story... I have 3 blogs that display amazon descriptions and reviews so on and so on. I use twitter and facebook fan pages to promote the sites and have an extensive backlink project in the works to boost search engine traffic all of which generates an average of 400+ pageviews of amazon products per blog however I have yet to generate any sales. Any insight how to get conversions? The blogs for anyone wanting to offer insight are: http://www.mp3boost.com http://www.planetmommy.com http://www.internetmarketingbook.info Also, I've thought about changing the link colors to the product pages but I'm thinking if I'm getting traffic to amazon product pages via the current link color on the blogs this may not be necessary. Any thoughts on this as well?
Login to your affiliate account. Copy few of your links. Select links and banners option. Select link checker option on left navigation panel. Test your affiliate links there. It will tell you your links really works Hope this helps. Common average conversion rate would be 1-5% this means you have to get 1-5 sales from 100 clicks.
I just find the Pop up ads in the Planet Mommy kinda annoying. I guess, tt must have turned off some prospective visitors in browsing your site.
Great tip Cylonx Yes Op, You must have try this. Try some good CPA porgrams to check whether you can make some leads and some revenue with that. All the best.
The popup has been removed but that was added today prior to that I got 1301 clicks from the sites to amazon so i'm sure the links work. I guess I could try some cpm or cpa ads
You got me wrong before that test has 2 steps: in the first one it will load page if the link is really correct, in the second one step it will test your affiliate ID - Aff ID must be correctly implemented or you risk you are selling but without commission credited If you got 1000+ clicks you must generate min 10 sales buddy, of course your products must be related to your site content...
CylonX I'm just dumbfounded about the whole ordeal...I did the link checker for 20 links on the site like you recommended and they all work so not sure why not converting. As of today I have 2,245 clicks without a sale and I'm extremely concerned why no sales. One site features music albums info with posts linking directly to amazon product details and other is about internet marketing books. So the content is relevant with the products being offered just not sure what the problem is. Any other suggestions?
i would say keep changing your methods till u get it right also ask amazon to see if there is a problem also try changing your traking id
Ah, there must be something really wrong. Contact Amazon support as King recommended. I am just checking my Affiliate account: 3200 clicks, 51 orders. It is impossible to have 0 sales from so many clicks. BTW i suggest to add some ClickBank products on your marketing site. If you have so many clicks i really recommnd to test Clickbank. They offer up to 90% commission and they have many of marketing products like Google Sniper etc... You will generate $20-100 per sale not $1-2 as with Amazon.
Remove the popup. Your site isn't established in brand yet so that popup is just going to turn people away. I've looked at all your three sites. Basically you provided zero value to your readers. I'll go as far to say that it's not just zero value, it's negative value -- you're wasting their time. How are you helping your readers in a way that Amazon isn't already helping them? If you can't interest them and help them, why would they help you (by buying)? You want to create a valuable site. Just imagine having a competitor doing exactly the same thing you are doing except that he/she can't because he/she isn't you. If you get what I'm saying, you're there already.
@ramerika: I think there's something you are not doing...or rather doing that's stopping you from generating sales through your Amazon associate links. It is very easy to assume you are doing it correctly until months down the line you realise you have been promoting Amazon products for free. However, I just tried clicking a few of your links on the first URL, and it returned error code - 400 which reads "Bad Request". Secondly, get rid of that annoying pop up - I won't come back to your site with that pop constantly getting in the way. I'd suggest you stop using the plugin you use to generate comments on your site, it's not working. I make a decent amount as an Associate myself and have recently started using the Post to Twitter feature on Amazon - consider using it yourself and it should save you from banging your head on the wall. Good luck
hey hhelen i figured out why the 404 errors were happening...i was using the urchin option on the wordtwit plugin and it wasn't working so i've disabled the feature and now it should work with no problem Hopefully this will fix the conversion issue as well even tho i doubt it...looking at some options that could fix this problem as well
It seems to me like the content you are posting is mostly copied and pasted from somewhere else. Try adding your own personal touch to it.
@ramerika, nice to hear that it's now working. But have you thought about removing the popup window as mentioned previously? I don't know about others, but I find it to be irritating and pops up on every click. Other than that I think you should be fine now that you've sorted the error message out - Good luck
I read a post by Problogger. He mentioned using in-text hyperlink method, instead of showing the banner. I'm still trying, and no sale yet, so I can't really say whether it's workable or not.
Hey guys the holiday season has initiated sales for me...finally lol...in the first 2 days of the december I've got 5 sales from 619 clicks...yay lol so i can only look forward to more sales in the coming weeks.
