Hi All, I would like to ask a question, which I can't seem to answer, so I need all your help: What is better? Web 2.0 (weebly etc...) or Article Marketing (e.g. ezinearticles etc...) In terms of: - Ranking - The amount of time ranked high (if applicable) - Conversions - Popularity If you could, could you share any experiences with any of these 2 methods of promotion. Thanks to all, Dim.
These are two different approaches to article marketing. When it comes down to ezinearticles people think of "bum marketing" and most are just surviving off of the authority ezinearticles has. Web 2.0 sites like squidoo and hupages don't have the authority ezinearticles has, so you have to put more work into it, you just need enough links pointing to your web 2.0 properties, which you can do by social bookmarking and other ways you can come up with getting links. It takes WAY longer to get web 2.0 sites to work for you in the end, but is worth effort in the long run if your willing to put the extra effort into it.
Weebly is considered part of "Web 2.0" these days?! That's nice for them: Weebly existed for many years before the term "Web 2.0" had ever been hyped up ... sorry, "dreamed up" ... In my opinion, article writing is incomparably better for people who write high quality articles that will be widely republished from article directories. People tend to think of article directories as "backlink sources" and "in situ traffic sources", quite forgetting their primary function.
They're both needed. It seems that these days you can't write an article for EXA and expect to dominate the search engines. You have to also build backlinks to your articles. There seem to be so many ways to do it that I'm yet to figure out the BEST way (and I've never done it before because I deplore sites like squidoo, hubpages and doing social bookmarking). In my mind, all these actions that webmasters do these days are tantamount to spamming because they serve no useful purpose other than to funnel prospects and get sales. I'm gonna have to catch up though. I think the way forward for me personally is article spinning and distribution. I can write articles anyway and this will magnify my efforts, at least for link building. What I might do is go back through all my ezinearticles and then create a spun article to backlink to each and every article for whatever keyword it was originally optimized for. Then see what happens! I'll be using either Unique Article Wizard or Article Marketing Automation. Not sure which yet though.....
Why would you want to build backlinks to EZA's site rather than to your own?! (Ok - slightly rhetorical question: I know it can actually have some value in getting an EZA article a bit higher in the SERP's, but as a general principle, this ought to be very much an "occasional afterthought" compared with using your own articles to turn your own site into an authority site.) Rather you than I. We have very different concepts of what "article marketing" is, obviously. But good luck.
Simple spinning of articles and linking back to our main website pages with them has worked to a point for us - we basically saw a decent gain in search rankings, but then it leveled out - it's probably pretty much because all the blogs in a spinning network are going to be pr0-1 really - these backlinks can take you so far, but then it gets to be the case that a few backlinks from quality sources are worth much more.
Simple, because any articles posted to EZA these days either don't rank or rank for a very short time, unless you build backlinks to them. Ask petehols all about it. This only happened in the last two years. Before then any articles on EZA stayed higher for longer. btw I won't be building backlinks only to my EZA articles. You're right to say its better to build for your own. I'll do this too. No doubt, everyone has a different concept of article marketing. In fact, I'd say that few people are trying to use EZA to make their own sites, authority sites. Looking through a random sample of articles of EZA tells me that very few people are trying to make authority sites.
i love web 2.0, i get all my sales using web 2.0 NO PPC, NO SEO, NO article marketing! i'm improving seo for yet! but when especially video marketing stay from my experience the best of all
Yes, I agree with you. And many of the rest (the majority) are the ones who will then turn round and tell you "article marketing doesn't really work"! They've put all their efforts into building up someone else's property! It's actually easy to outrank EZA for many keywords. Many people are intimidated by directories and feel they're competing at a disadvantage, but they still allow themselves to become dependent on EZA. This is short-sighted. One day EZA can suddenly change (in fact it's gradually changing now - for the better, and long overdue, in my opinion, but lazy, short-sighted marketers won't agree with me about that!). (Not meaning yourself, of course, Rolf, I hasten to add! ).
You can leverage every thing on web, only thing is how you manipulate it. Following is my strategy of Internet marketing. Instant Results If you want money to roll in a matter of few days then go with Ezinearticles.com. This will drive instant short lived traffic to your lander and make some quick bucks. Pros: Instant Traffic Cons: Short lived Short Term Results Web 2.0 sites are good, and they rank pretty good when you do some solid keyword research and link building. The only draw back is, you don't owe that property in perfect scene. This means Web 2.0 site owners can change their policies over night and block you property, page, site without prior notice. This thing has happened with me when and I had lose some web 2.0 pages which were giving me $500 - $700 per month on autopilot. Pros: Ranks very fast with minimal efforts. Cons: Web 2.0 site owners change their policies very often and block web 2.0 properties any time without prior notice. Long Term Results If you really want long term results, then you go with building an authority site. This will give you a complete peace of mind and you can leverage your traffic by multiple ways. Pros: Complete control over your site. Cons: You need tons of patience to see good SERP results. Conclusion: Mix above 3 of them as per your financial needs but finally focus on the last one.
Hi everyone, This thread has become a very helpful one, with many tips and guides for success. I would like to thank every single one of you for your contribution, as these posts will no doubt help me heavily in my promotions. THANKS, Dim
Forgot to ask: What is an authority site? Would it be better to have one or many authority sites? THANKS!
Web 2.0 for everything these days. I'm sorry, boring old Web 1.0 landing pages and sites bore the hell out of me. If they can't even manage to design a few fancy graphics for a 50$ product, why would I even buy it?
Explaining an authority site is quite a tedious task but in simple words, a site which have tons of unique quality content, site which is a link magnet(People should link/refer/mail/talk about site without any rewards) and a site which is getting traffic from various sources beside search engines. If you build an authority site, you will get floods of traffic from SE's in 6-12 months. And this will be your real property! Following is a detail explanation of authority site. http://www.seodesignsolutions.com/b...te-building-and-leveraging-website-authority/
Weebly can be part of your link wheels, however it is not a must. There's tons of article directories and web 2.0 communities that tend to rank much higher in Google. Al.
