Irrelevant Backlinks

There is difference between irrelevant and bad links and in both cases, it won't make any impact on your SEO process. However, it is advisable not to acquire links from bad neighborhood.

 

Then the question arises, what if your competitors create unnecessary and irrelevant backlinks to the sites that are blacklisted or something? What would be left to do then?

 

You can not do anything in that case. Google only penalize the websites that put irrelevant links on their websites, however, Google doesn't penalize a website for just bad backlinks as Google understands the fact that a backlink could be created without your knowledge and intention.

 

If i have a game site, i place some links to one tech site. The tech site is dangerous to SEO???

If you are referring to general niches than that wouldn't be a problem. I have already tried it on my on my entertainment site and it gain some pr.

 

I think irrelevent backlinks are perfectly fine cause they have no or little effect on your site.

 

Exactly, but if tech website puts some bad links over there, then it might face some heat of Google.

 

Relevant backlinks are more helpful than irrelevant backlinks..
IF you are using that way try to change it for the shake of your site..

 

Cant say dangerous, but not worth while. So spend your time on making relevant back links.

good discussion...I do feel that relavant backlinks are most important....for SERP....

here I have a question

if a link comes from a fully relavant page .....but the domain in not so relavant....means not fully relavant....

domain is no a bad-neighbourhood.....but not relavant...

then what will be the value of the link ?

 

How can we identify these these spam or blacklisted sites?

 

I don't think it has bad affect becuase if has then lot of people will harm their competitors doing this to their sites so google punish them , it's not reasonable

 

This statement is in fact false. I am a seo expert and provide seo services to clients every day. I know everything there is about what Google likes and doesn't, about Page Rank and everything else related to seo.

I can confirm that having backlinks on irrelevant sites is better than having none at all - Google checks how many backlinks you have across the web, it does not care whether they are irrelevant, they still class it as a backlink.

Obviously the more high page rank sites you have backlinks on the better. Less than 7 days ago I managed to do a report on a clients website. It turns out that I managed to get a business website from having no page rank at all, to page rank 3 in less than 20 days.
