Content is king :) There are also many other factors which are important to earn more with AdSense. One of them is good ad placement. Spend some time by playing game called "ad placement testing" and you will increase your CR for another 20% or more.

Least important thing IMO, other than for creating relevant ads.

Ad position and blending is the most important.

    Hi,
Increasing CTR by 20% is GOOD... if it keeps on growing.. Google might suspect foul play.. So be careful.. I know a friend who is victim of GOOD CTR (all genuine traffic) but still got suspended..

    All the best..

    Regards,

Agreed. It is the ad placement and blending / contrasting the ad depending on your layout that attracts the visitors...

That is just not true. Valuable content traditionally decreases CTR. Think about it... if it's so valuable, why would someone want to click on the ads and leave that oh-so-valuable content? It doesn't make much sense.

The only way valuable content will increase CTR is if there are hundreds of pages of it, and each page is strategically designed for matching with the right ads the titles of which LOOK like they belong to your site.

Besides, if you post 1000 of "valuable" content to your site today, Google AdSense has no way of optimizing all ads on all pages right away, it just takes time.

I also don't understand how you say you "just tweaked" a few things here and there and increased your CTR, yet you say that it's all about valuable content... You cannot create valuable content by tweaking it for a few minutes. It creates hours, weeks and months if not years to build value.

By increasing your CTR you are also increasing the chances of Google being suspicious. 20% CTR will definitely get you in trouble in a month or a few months... IF and only IF the ad clickers are disappointed. Now, it's very difficult to make 20% of your ad clickers to be satisfied with content of the advertised sites... because you have no control over them.

I find it hard to believe you. Also, 20% CTRs are only possible if you change physical location of your ads on your site, value of content will not increase CTR.

CTR shouldn't be 20%...that's just wrong.

Writing 25 articles on topics that hundreds of other have covered before might be better than nothing, and you may get some links to it, but you are not going to drive big time links to that type of content.

The bottom line is that you or your company need to become an expert on the topic of your site, and you need to put it out there in some unique fashion that has not been done before (or at least not many times before).

I would say traffic is king. Use your powers and know how to drive visitors to your website. Ad placement does play into it with blending, but that won't matter if you don't have visitors.
