Why Is Alexa Rank Going Down?

i get 2600 uniques a day but alexa says 2,800,000 but i have not installed the tool bar either so who knows about them i say alexa sucks

 

if your traffic decrease continuous then it will affect your alexa rank

Well, all statistics tools are inaccurate. Have you heard of the "hotel" problem? Daily unique visitors do not add up to monthly unique visitors. This is a fact because there is a flaw in definition of "unique visitor".

However... based on how these tracking software sites CHOOSE to track statistics... They all provide results that are relative to how they choose to track them.

 

Alexa as a single entity does not help you much, but combined with the traffic and analytics stats, it is surely a powerful tool.

Just like Google Analytics is waste if it does not show the keywords, demographics and other stats.

Alexa rank "going down" is a good thing actually. So, when your site enters the below "1 lakh" mark, advertisers and sponsors can understand that your site is legitimate.

As other DP members have said, yes Alexa rank can be duped and it is not fail proof.

I don't pay much attention to Alexa, I have not found it to be terribly accurate, it can be manipulated.

 

Alexa is only to be used as a rough indication on how a site is doing i always use awstats to me that is the best true indicator.

 

Yeah, it's not very accurate, for sure, it's a fluctuating average of some sorts... and some of alexa's statistics for one of my websites are just wrong and confusing, it has shown bounce rate of 100% for one of my sites, even though Google Analytics was showing 80% bounce rate.

Nothing wrong at all with using Alexa. It is a tool you can use. Nobody can measure it dead on how accurate or inaccurate it may be. So probably plus and minuses just like any other tool out there in the world. So take in the opinions but as well research it yourself to see what areas might work for you.

 

alexa is no use and means nothing. Its easy to cheat alexa.

 

I am not sure if you can use alexa like that.. try quantcast.. it's not perfect but it will be closer.

 

It's not everyone that thinks Alexa is useless. Some big time guru's like Ken Evoy use it a lot for analytics.
