    Hello Guys,

I have been scammed by a member of DP. His id is tommyg3355

He aksed me to write 30 articles at $3 each. I have sent him all on 15th November, however he said "I am checking the articles and will pay when I am done". However, he hasnt paid. I tried to contact him thru PMing here on DP and his email, but no response. Now I feel I am scammed. He has published all the 30 articles.

What can I do in this case?

Is his site's server located in the United States? If so, perhaps a DMCA takedown notice filed with his web host is in order, since he has not paid you for a licence to use your copyrighted material.

Does he have AdSense or any other reputable advertising network showing up on his website? They might disable his account if you report to them that he is using copyrighted content illegally on the same pages that their ads are showing up.

Could you post the link to the page(s) on which he posted the material you wrote?

I am having the same issue with another DP member (I wont name yet).

I am still remaining hopeful that he will pay me. But it is looking like that its not going to happen. I believe from now on I will have to request 50% up front.

Ok, so it's really simple because the website uses AdSense. What you will want to do is go to one of the ads, and click where it says, "Ads by Google." When that link opens up, scroll down and click, "Report a policy violation regarding the site or ads you just saw." Then select, "The site is hosting or distributing my copyrighted content, without my permission."

In the "Add additional information here" box, write the details. Something along the lines of, "This person promised me payment for some original articles I wrote for them and has since failed to pay me as promised or respond to any of my demands for payment. I am the rightful copyright owner of this material and, having not been paid for the work performed, do not authorize its use on this website."

If you prefer, you could fill out the AdSense DMCA takedown notice form here: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/request.py?contact_type=dmca_complaint They might also deindex the website from Google altogether if you use this process.

    he's hosted by Hostrocket
usually they don't listen to anything you say unless you're the police or something. but $90 is high enough to bring police envolvement.

he might have talked those people into his scam as well. you might want to contact them to see if they can help you get more information about him

Never give your goods / services until after the person pays you. Show demos of the content or excerpts and then follow up with the articles in full after payment

u can leave -ve itrader. but honestly its very stupid to send 30 articles first

u could have asked 50% money or 15 articles to send

anyway if u not get money u can make those articles free in freebies section :D

This is why you should always escrow this type of service. -- I'm sorry to tell you this but you might be SOL -- I also suggest try doing a charge back on your CC,

    Best of luck.

Lesson of the day is always get at least 50% before sending anything.

I work on commission for coding, graphic design, and web programming, and I always get at least 1/2 of the payment up front, and then only send screen shots, or slices of the writings to show that they are done.

Even commissioners who've commissioned me hundreds of times in the past I ask to pay 1/2 or pay 100% before I send them their goods. This is because I've been burned before on work and unless you got some kind of escrow going don't ever just give your work to someone. If they know you're good then they'll pay up. If they're just looking for freebies then they're going to ask for it in advance.

There are no friends when it comes to money and business.

There are some dishonest people out there. So, you just have change the policy to get paid before you give them the work.

I know that this is really sucks. But, it is what some have to do.

Leaving a - itrader is not always a good idea, because they might do the same to you in retaliation.

Just make it known to others that this person is a scammer and move on.

I didn't get screwed for as much as you did, but onlinedave took me for $20

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I've been pretty lucky with my transactions on DP. I'll say this, however, I've only purchased a few things. I've gotten burned by purchasing crap, but never like your experience.
