Contest Logo design contest - $15 - web directory

I am looking for a new logo to replace the one used by the template on my new web directory, Tefra! The current one is using the default logo placement from the original template.

What I would like to see in the logo:

1. Must have the name "Tefra!" in it (with exclamation mark) and the idea is to convey excitement or joy at the discovery of the directory. Tagline is optional, but not necessary.
2. You are free to use any colour or even multi-colours. I personally like lots of red and white (see my blog colours). Fonts is also up to you.
3. I like logos which look clean and conform to Web 2.0 style. I found some samples of logo styles I like: here and here, for example.
4. Must match the background, I think transparent background would work. I however, do intend to use this template as the permanent design for Tefra!
5. I also would like you to create a favicon for Tefra! matching the logo design you have made, if you are selected as the winner. So your logo design should keep this point in mind.

You can download the PSD for that original default logo placement to play around here. Delivery should be in .psd, .png and also .jpg formats, so that I can easily replace the logo without too much hassle.

Payment will be made through PayPal via credit card to the winner, either if there are no other designs that I like or within 72 hours when the contest ends.

OK here are my comments:

So far the logos in the lead are pheonix89, chlopzmazur and Coden. The others are either missing the "!" symbol and/or does not stand out at all, with just the typeface and no graphic or illustration.

Regarding the current designs by pheonix89, I like the first two designed, but there is a lack of red. I would like to see some red there. And I do not want the red to be too dominant, like what you did in the third logo. That mascot man is a nice touch, it does seem to show that he is leaping for joy. On that aspect, you managed to capture Point 1 as stated in my earlier post.

Coden, your design is nice but also lacks red, I would like to see some red to show the forcefulness. Also, the t! typeface illustration next to the name is nice but reminds me too much of Twitter. So I do not want that.

chlopzmazur, your logo is nice but you forgot to put the "!" and I think the tagline for this particular logo is unnecessary. There is too much blue and I want to see some red (but not too dominant please). Also, if you can include a graphic like what Coden, pheonix89 did to theirs, that would be interesting.

I have to admit that this is the most impressive logo thus far! I would appreciate if a small modification could be made to the logo so that the arrow looks like a mouse cursor. Otherwise there is no real signifance in the use of the arrow.

I made some edits anyway, please could you give me a few tips on improvement:

 

I like the idea behind the design but unfortunately the placement of the cursor is quite odd, it could be better? Also there is no icon which could also be used as a favicon as well.

I probably could use this for another site but for now, I think Coden is leading the pack
