I know that link has been passed around a lot but does it still work? And do you need to be signed up with yahoo small business first or what? I want to open a new adwords account and don't want to pass up the opportunity of getting $55 free.

The $55 Yahoo! SBC credit still works fine. The link is on this blog:

I just signed up for it through the $55 url, and it doesnt seem to give me the credit. It just wants me to finish up some billing info. Theres a place for a "promotional code" when you are entering your billing info though but you can't really type an url in there.

the thread originated deep in DP but I can't find it at the moment...

However, some people say that you should check for the credits in your account before you give cc info..

It should also be in the U.S.

I did not give CC info because I don't see the credits. This is why I am concerned, I don't want to throw away the $50 for nothing.

Ok so thats the opposite of what you said. Sort of puts me in a catch-22 situation because in order to give info I permanently bypass the opportunity to optionally "enter a promotional code" during the account validation. :D

Is this the one where $5 comes out of your bank for "activation"? Or does the $5 come out of the $50 credit?
