    Getting friends, depends on your niche, if you have a general topic than you can add every one from differnt groups, friends of friends etc, but if you have specific topic than you chose strictly to your topic related friends, this will be not a big number but targeted.

    I have about 250 friends on Facebook.
    The most effective way to get many friends for marketing an online business is to join some groups there related to your niche plus it have a good number of members and post your link there . And search people from those groups and make them friends. After having so much friends then create your own group and send the invitations to all those friends and by this you will get some good success in marketing your business

    i have above 4000 friends but it is use less for marketing you have to make the facebook fan page & try to keep update up fan pages on daily bases

    join groups that are near your niche then add those people I have like 700 but have been a little lax on adding friends since I have gotten a few warnings
