    Hi

Yesterday, I was watching a video of Google's Matt Cutts, where he was explaining how Google creates snippets in serps for each result.

He said that if due to any reason sometime Google not able to crawl your page then it refers to ODP Directory (Open Directory Project) to get the content for the snippet.

Since last more than a 2 years I am trying to get my website submit in the Directory but never success.

Please help me to get my website listed there.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Maneet puri

You just need to read their submission guidelines properly, check if your site meets all of them, select the most appropriate category and then only submit.

The open directory has some strict rules on how to submit a site. You need to pick the right location and category. If you are slightly off in your choice, your site will not get listed. A lot of people have tried submitting, but didn't have luck.

Put a good Meta Description on each page in your site, and you won't need to worry about DMOZ snippets. Google will use your Meta Description. A few posters say this is not happening for them, but I find Google consistently using my Meta Description in the search results. And yes, I am listed in DMOZ.
