No, no, both of them are bad. If you have access to comscore, that's a better third party data collection source - but it still has the shortfalls that any third party source will have. If you're considering buying the site, you need to look at the logs to know what traffic it really gets. If you're considering links - consider relevance - and check that the place your link will be on is indexed.
PR is not the Kudos it use to be but if you are either selling your site or selling advertising space on your site you can charge more for a higher PR but for the norm its visitors to the site that count more,and Alexa is just a rough barometer of how your site is doing and thats about all that can be said about it really.
both of dem hold equal importance. but i prefer google more because it shows more correct statistics. since google has more authority towards your site , they tend to show not exactly but near to that data. alexa has less authority and dey show almost incorrect data...
I don't understand you guys. Alexa and google are simple (and third party also) indicators, not standards. If you see a site with PR7, it's a good indicator that we have a website with possible strong and related backlinks. But if you want to be sure, you must check them, because it is possible to have tons of unrelated links (for example, if we have tons of links from high pr flash games websites for an insurance website the pr would be high, but SERPs position very low). With alexa is the same story. So... if you see the correct thing in each indicator (alexa, google PR, and so one), you might find them very useful. But if you consider a website "GREAT" just because it has a good PR, and after that you see the revers, don't blame the google PR blame yourself.
I always check Google first, then Alexa. However, neither of them is perfect but they can give a rough estimate of a site's potential.
I think Alexa is the best and I thing Google page rank is planned to be discontinued, perhaps because you can fool pagerank by linking to other sites with a high page rank
I think alexa is much better, but in this forum when you wanna sell something, people on this forum see PR not Alexa ranking
