Okay, this is a very common mistake that can ruin your sales. It makes me mad to see it in names that I'm interested in purchasing because I will walk away from the majority of the sales if you put the domain anywhere on the thread in TEXT.

    This is what happens:

WRONG Thread Title: [WTS] DOMAIN.COM FOR CHEAP $1 Premium domain!!!

    Why does that matter?
Well, if you know of a tiny company called Google.com (anyone?), they grab those threads and index them in a matter of hours.

Which means the buyer will now have to compete with DigitalPoint Forums for the domain they just bought.

    IT'S STUPID!

So, I ask all the domain sellers in this forum (or any other forum) to AVOID putting the domain name on the thread title.

    Instead, use something like:

RIGHT! Thread Title:[WTS] Three word, travel related dot com at Godaddy for $123

Then, inside the thread use ImageShack.us to host a simple text logo of your domain name. You can find free banner makers or spend $3 on a simple logo.

I just posted a thread in the apprasials section, then googled the name of the domain and it was indexed in literally 2 minutes. Didn't realise they crawled and indexed this site that fast.

Yup! Now your own thread will show up when your future customers or buyers search for the domain name. It's really not smart, sorry to hear.

Surely sellers want the best price they can get. If Google indexes and provides more publicity then the seller can potentially get a higher price for the domain.

That's the wrong idea, I'm sorry. Marketing the actual name on search engines is irrelevant because nobody is searching for it. Whatever buyers are interested will most likely turn away (like myself) because of the instant competition...

If you really wanted to appeal to more buyers, you would invest $5 on a logo and target them with keywords.

We are in the same business line, in my opinion, if you abey the DP' rules and policies, you won't suffer loss on your sales. when you register, just read these sentence by sentence, that will be ok.
