How many backlinks can you add to your site each day before Google penalizes you?

What is the maximum, I am thinking about 10-12 in one day would be alright.

If it is pertinent, they will be mostly from article directories.

    Thanks.

Wrong forum. Anyways it depends on domain's age and backlinks. For new sites get around 30-100 max / day.

I would keep it under 50 a day.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think it really matters as long as you continue to get a ton of links each day. If you get 400 links every day, then it still looks natural. However, if you get 100 links in a day and then don't get any links after that, that's when Google can tell something is up. It's all about keep up the linkbuilding.

    in7,

Keep the linking natural and diverse. If this is a newer site I wouldn't hit it too hard; regardless You need to take it slow and be consistent.

I agree with you up to a certain point. Every day on the net there are sites that get huge spikes in traffic from viral marketing, etc., that don't sustain this level of traffic but do fine. It's really hard to say I think.

Keep it consistent. High spikes in traffic and back links raises flags.
