Redirection from http://example.com to http://www.example.com

Hi,
I am doing link building for one of my credit card related site. But the thing is most of anchor texts which I have given from other websites are pointing out my website without www like http://example.com. Now I am planning to redirect this one to http://www.example.com. So If i do this will it affect my current ranking positions ?

 

change your url from google webmaster tools

 

That does not fix the problem completely. You need to do a 301 redirect here is the info

Also it will be good to do a similar 301 redirects from http://example.com.index.php & http://www.example.com.index.php to http://www.example.com

This is not going to affect your current ranking. you can use 301 redirection using htaccess file.
