If the drop happened around the beginning of the month, it sounds like you got dinged during the latest Page Rank update.. Happens to the best of us!

PR can go up and down based on your link building activity. if you lost some PR backlinks, it is usual to get a lower PR on the last toolbar update

Hey - I lost one on my PR - no big deal. I'm still getting traffic and I'm not losing ground in the SERPs. PR is not as important like it was a couple years ago.

There are new Pagerank updates quite often and it may have been that your checks happened to be two sides of a major pagerank update.

Also ensure you refresh the page and sometimes it sticks and show PR for
    last page you were on.

There are times you google toolbar will give inaccurate result. One way is to restart browser and then confirm using online PR checker.

This is definitely the problem with your toolbar. Your pr keeps changing but it doesn't get updated on your toolbar for 3 to 5 months.

There's many reasons why your PageRank has fell. Maybe some of the sites you had backlinks from lost their PR, could be that some sites got penalized, or you could have just lost a critical link pointing to your site.

Often its happan if you not gather that much of backlink for your site. Keep doing promotion, if you stop to promote your site. you lost your position from search engine. Because their are lots of competitor who always live to get top position.

    agree with you divengrabber
We can maintain our PR if we keep on working for its SEO. If it was not the problem of your browser then you may have lost some of your backlinks.

If so..even then you dont need to worry.
In my opinion traffic is more important as compared to PR.

first check your pr via online tool also, if you really loose your pr then it's the matter of backlinks.
