If you search google for "trade show booths", you will see that the #1 and #3 results have sitelinks, but not the #2. How can the #3 result have sitelinks, which says it has additional highly relevant pages, but rank below the #2 site, which doesn't have sitelinks? I've seen this on other searches besides trade show booths as well. Any ideas on why #3 would have sitelinks but not #2? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
hi templates, I agree that google works in mysterious ways, and may seem like black magic. But at the end of the day, it is a computer program, and it has rules. Everything I read says that sitelinks means the site is an "authority" and is way better than the sites below it. So again I ask, for the search "trade show booths", how can result #3 have site links and be an "authority" but rank below #2 which does not have site links???
I just did a quick search for some of the more popular keyword terms for the trade show displays industry such as trade show booths, trade show exhibits, and trade show displays. None of them seem to be displaying any sitelinks. I wonder if this could have something to do with the caffeine update. Cheers, Mike
hi Mike, I just checked "trade show booths" and I see site links for the #1 and the #4 spot, but not #2 or #3, so I think it is still a strange thing? I also checked "trade show displays" and only #1 had site links, so at least that one makes sense. I just wonder how #4 could have site links but not the #2 or #3. Maybe caffeine will take care of this...
Usually it has to do with one site having a better internal linking (and sub directory) structure than the other, along with more links to those internal sub directories/sections ... as far as i understand it, and have observed.
I checked under both keywords and i dont see any sites that have sitelinks on the 1st page or any page for that matter am i missing something here? im in the USA searching ...not UK thx M1
Well, I just googled "trade show booths" (no quotes) yet again, and I am still seeing site links on #1 and #4. I'm in California, and no, I don't have personalized search or anything like that happening, at least as far as I know. Maybe Google is just messin' with me?
Or maybe with me then as someone else was able to see but not myself Id like to see as ive never seen any serp result show 2 sites with sitelinks on same page.. thx malcolm
