    Hi Friends,

I am working on my old domain www.techgazz.com I installed WP using Fantastico, the installation was perfect & I upgraded the WP to 2.8.6 thru admin panel only & it was working perfect but after one day the wp-admin panel looks like the screenshot below., I also manually downloaded WP and uploaded(replaced all the files in wp-admin folder including CSS) which did not work so uninstalled the WP from my site & also terminated cPanel a/c & tried with new a/c but after installation of 1 day the look of the WP-admin panel changes and also all the other pages from wp-admin are looking and working fine. What is the solution for this ? have anyone experienced any problems like this ?

    Regards

    Abhishek

For me, it happened a few times on last 2/3 months, only when my site is slow, but after I refresh the page, its gone. Not sure what's the problem tho.

That's because the software can't find the css file for the admin side.

In your browser, there's an option under the view menu names "View Source" or something similar. Please view your source and look for lines near the top that include rel="stylesheet". There may be 4 or 5 if not more of them but they'll all be within the 'head' tags of what you;re looking at.

Please copy and paste here within the forums what you see. Please remember to place the code with the code tags. That's the one that looks like a number sign or # in the forum editor.

Upgrading via the wp interface was what you did wrong to be honest. You always upgrade via the method you installed with. Should have done it via Fantastico. That's why it's broken now.

Also please double check your webserver's error logs. You should see that option within CPanel.

edit: Before you do anything else, please make a backup of your database that your blog uses and save it to your desktop. That way no damage can become of it.

No, as I noted earlier, the problem is you broke your install when you upgraded via a different method than the one you installed with. That is the problem. Fantastico uses it's own version of the wordpress software that is coded to be used in their autoinstaller. When you installed from the autoupdater, you broke the Fantastico install.

What specifically did you do between the time you first started this thread and when you just posted? Did you make any changes? If you did, can you please change them back and see if that helps?

I'm going to suggest you try upgrading from Fantastico. Before you do that, please take a moment and answer the questions I asked. Maybe we can fix it for you.

What specific version of wordpress is Fantastico listing as being available?

Fantastico currently has 2.8.5 & in the admin we can upgrade to 2.8.6 which is WP's latest version, moreover after the upgrade it was working fine all the 3 times i tried & only after about 24hrs the problem started and again after more 24hrs or so the error "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_LNUMBER in /home/techgazz/public_html/index.php on line 18" was showing on the home page.. there is no need of backup as this is a new installation and there is no data on it.. I want to start this site from a long time but due to my laziness i hav already posponed it for 2yrs I dont want to make it any later.. I feel that installating WP manually will solve my problem..
