The thing is that a lot of guys considering that internet business and real life should be separate things...especially i heard that once you build a big business online its better to be anonymous simply because of the competitors.

Also there are other guys who saying that if you are visible online and regular guys can find out who you are and what you do in life. They can get easier trust for your business and you can build your social/business faster.

I am wondering whats the right way to approach these things.

Anyobody has a bad feedback with revealing a true identity?

well, for business, you can reveal your true private identity to boost more cooperation.
Just as i am seeking for more overseas domain names or hosting resellers, i will leave my contact way to help our customers. That will be one part of quality service. hehe

it's not necessary to hide any identity online if you are doing legal online business.

Yes, domain names and web hosting are both legal to the ground, you said it, so there is no need for me to hide the true identity, by contraries, I hope more resellers can contact me by the true identity way.

Deal.. everyone who have a big business on the internet sometime hide they identity for prevent fraud clicks (if he is an adsense publisher) and to prevent other fraud.

i think you got a dilemma when you must hide or show your true identity. :D

hi, zearth, nice to meet you here, thanks for you reminder, but we have a set of complete security mechanism, let alone, I'm seeking for resellers, and the prices we offered to them depends on the package price the customers make, but the prices must be the best recently, you can rest it. Thanks again.

its not trustworthy to reveal your real identity online on the very first go, coz you dont know anything about the person you are interracting, its better to have some chat preferrably on a voip software or would be much better if you can visit the person

Different situations call for different levels of security I guess. Personally I don't have anything to hide therefore I identify myself almost 100% of the time.

If you run a legitimate business, you need to identify yourself. You need a name, you need a phone number, you need a physical address, otherwise all your credibility goes out the window along with your customers.

If you dream about running a successful long term business with legit clients and proper trust and branding, it's better you reveal yourself completely.

I think all online services are not safe to release the true identity. In the case of online business like web hosting it is necessary to reveal our true identity to obtain maximum benefit. There are a lot of cheating can be done through online services.

What I mean about the identity is this:

Imagine you started doing business and at some point there will be some bad business experiences...

I mean look if you search for brad callen on google the 1st which comes up is brad callen scam

I bet you guys wouldnt want to happen this for you?

So whether he is a bad person or not I don't know...and wondering if I should have facebook twitter and other accounts set up as.

sitecom or as first name last name ceo of x site.

I almost always use my true identity. Of course, I sometimes, use silly user-names and pen-names in forums and what not. My business is reputable so I think it's important to be upfront about who I am - but there are some strange people in the world and the concept of identity theft is real. That makes it critical to be cautious about what information you give out about yourself.

A red flag always goes up when there is a need to include detailed information about myself - CC, phone number, SS, address, etc. Unfortunately, we do live in a time that though technological advancements can provide us with our incomes, they can also be the means to our end.
