Can I have my blogspot blog content in wordpress too?

Discussion in 'Blogging' started by rangan, Nov 13, 2009.

I have a 3 years old blog in blogger and for its keywords, it is ranking #1 in Google (without quotes).

May I import all its content to a new wordpress blog (own domain) and simultaneously continue to maintain my blog with blogger?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your response. What I want to ensure is can I have the same blog content in two blogs of different blogging platform.

You can have it, but google will take it as duplicate content, so add summaries of your blogger posts to the wp blog and leave a backlink to blogger blog, so that people can read the entire post there.

No, you should not copy the same content on both blogs. Although there is nothing illegal in that but google will find every thing copied and that will give a wrong impact. You need to tell the google to d-index the other blogs pages

I would advise against doing that, have the content on one or the other but not both.

If you're meaning wordpress as in wordpress.com, it is against their AUP to have dupe content of another site, even if it's your own.

There are a few Wordpress content rewriter plugins around as well.

If you need help to setup everything, we're available for hire :)

The best way to go about this is to export all your blogger content and import it into wordpress. Then redirect your old blogger blog to your new wordpress blog.

I will be more then happy to do this for you if you'd like. Send me a PM if your interested.

I would not recommend this, as you miss visitors, clicks and possible income.

I don't see how you would miss visitors if your blogger blog is redirected to your wordpress blog. Please enlighten me.

You have content on Blogger, then via RSS you post the same content on your WP blog, and use a rewriter plugin.
This give 2 opportunities to make money, from the clicks on your Blogger blog and your WP blog ;)

If you simple redirect it then you miss the clicks and possible income from the Blogger blog, plus search engines will de-index your site, as you give it a 301 redirect.

Just use the built-in Import feature of WordPress then you are good to go

You can import your blogger to self hosted wordpress. Then you can set up 301 redirection. If you done, all your blogspot pages automatically redirected to wordpess pages. 301 redirection is a method to let inform search engine as you have migrated blogger to wordpress. If you dont do 301 redirection, google will consider your new blog as duplicate. Recently i have done migration successfully.

Just take the Backup o your blogspot blog blog and 'Import' it to the wordpress blog. If you are using this method, make sure that you are using the option 'Use cusom domain' in blogger. Otherwise your content will be a duplicate Index in google.
