Defamation Slander Newbie needs advice

Hi all I am now undergoing a ruthless battle with people making false statements about me. The statements are designed to paint me as a bad man looking to cause trouble in stores and various places. I think this is a group of people working together and possibly using the internet to spread this trash talk. I may direct the recipients of flyers to this website to express their opinions on the matter, good or bad idea??
My current activity is passing flyers out to cars in parking lots of stores where I think I have been defamed or slandered. This flyer basically states that the slander or defamation or rumors are untrue. It goes on to say that the motives for this attack are not fully known but may be an attempt to scare my away from my home and my job.
For now I need your suggestions on this matter so I can decide on my next course of action. All people are encouraged to post if you think it will help me sort this problem out.
While in a store after work they seem to know I am there and store personnel are alerted. The store personnel then come around and gawk or try to see and remember me. last night they did it again and the same saleswomen followed me to a counter and directed me to a different register. But the club card did not have my address on it so they could not get too much info that time. Recently, I was in Lowes home center and the same thing happened sales clerks came around but did not generally ask if I needed help. then as I was checking out I noticed the cashiers were on the phone with someone, all cashiers. Later, I went to another store nearby and left my car nearby to the left of Lowes. I then saw a police car stop in front of Lowes and then it went to the left and started looking for my car I think. He stopped for a while then left, apparently no wants or warrants.
The reason I know they are talking to managers is one recent trip to Ralphs supermarket. One man was there that I recognized as part of the group. later in the store the manger came on the intercom and said loudly attention in the store I think there is a suspected @%&*#%@#$%^&* in the store. I looked up and then it hit me they were talking about me!!!!!!!!
As I passed the man I whispered "You need to prove it first!!!!" Then he said "I dont have to prove nothing!!!!" There are more examples I can give but you get the idea now. I believe it started as a workplace conflict and escalated from there.
Let me know what you think. I hope I was not too wordy with this post.
    Regards Matt

Good luck Matt. You sound paranoid, but as we all know that doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. Have you tried medication?

From the above and the topic of your other posts I suspect that you are being accused of being a child molester. If a neighbor is following you around from store to store and alerting staff and customers then I believe you should have legal cause of action against them. I would suggest talking to a lawyer.

After the passing of my Dad this last year I did go into a state of anxiety, but I think the rumors just added to my anxiety. I think also getting to me psychologically was the reason behind the spreading of gossip or false facts. I decline to answer the medicine question thanks.
And for Tobycoke I have talked to Private detectives and paid out about 3000.00 for their time and got NO results.
I am considering hiring law students for some of the investigations but do not know where to look, besides local schools that teach Law, can you please advise??? I would like to get some solid proof before I pay for a lawyer.
    Regards

This sounds like a bad idea to me. Likely all that's doing is telling people who have never heard of you one way or another that there are terrible accusations against you. Some people won't care, and other people will look you up online - where apparently there is more information against you. All you are doing is adding fuel to the fire.
You need an attorney, full stop. He can tell you what legal remedies you have, including enlisting the police in trying to prevent people from harassing you. But you can't do this by yourself.

What you can do is flood the internet with positive things about yourself. NOT web pages that say "I am not a crook" or the equivalent, because that just makes you look guilty. Instead just put up pages that show how you are a normal regular guy.

Some of the stuff you have described sounds really paranoid, honestly, and it's hard to know if that's real or you have built this up to something worse in your mind. So talk to an attorney, and he can tell you what your options are.

No, this is backwards. You need to go to a lawyer first to find out what kind of "proof" you might need. He can also tell you how to go to the police and file for a restraining order etc. if that's legally appropriate.

A law clinic in your area might be the source of an affordable attorney, and some attorneys will give you a short consult before you hire them.

ETA: And, I just saw your other thread where you are angry on behalf of guys who are arrested trying to hook up with underage girls, because the poor dudes just can't help themselves. Seriously disgusting. It may just be that you deserve what you are getting.

I have had these feelings and experiences before. When I looked at the core it was more about me then it was anyone else. I don't say this to hurt you or make you feel bad, but when we are disturbed by the actions of others there is often a root cause. We allow others to do to us what they do and we also allow it to make us angry.

Anger can motivate or destroy. It depends on how much of it is reality and how much of it is illusion. The best way to conquer the beast is to sit back and look at the situation. Take a "time out" and examine what it is that you can do to take charge. If there is nothing, then let it go. The Universe will mend it and you can move to what is important.

Be well, I hope you find peace. :)

This sounds like it might be more of a medical issue than a legal one. I would try to speak with a doctor first, if you still can't seem to get past this issue, then go see a lawyer and see if they have any suggestions.

    Good luck.

Hi again sorry for the late reply PCs were down for maintenance. Now then in reply to this ->
My aim was to reply to the accusations that are already going around and have been for a while-can we say several months? I was targeting the employees cars if I could(they would be there first in the morning...)
I am trying to keep it low profile as I once confromted a employee and a manager in the store-ugly situation if you KWIM.
I am quite enraged by the bypassing of the court system and the brazen attitude of these people. So just sit by and let them add fuel to the fire???
I have had malpractice in the dental chair and people looking at me like they know the deep secrets from the great beyond. So, thats where I am right now I am fed up with all this baloney.

One of the few people that believes in me, at least for a second anyway.
I saw your edit in your post. What is it that makes people say they believe the worst at times???
So now you are judging or should I say convicting? The only fault I have is having bad family and thats all I will say there.
I should have known that few people will believe me. For your info, the on the job rumors have been going on for more than a year maybe two that I know of anyway. Its just that if I go to the boss and say its true she will say that its not and it will be dismissed period. Anybody know of another forum that deals with legal issues or on the job harrassment??
    Bye

From what you've said, it sounds very much like you are the one escalating the situation. It may not seem fair, but putting fliers on cars and confronting people is likely to turn more people against you.
You have a total of 6 posts at DP. The ONLY other thread you've participated in is one which you started almost two years ago to rant in defense of guys who get busted trying to hook up with underage girls. So about the time the "rumors" started, you were here defending dudes who get caught preying on young girls. So that's all I have to go on, and it looks really bad from here. If you were ranting like that at work, that could be how the rumors started, even if you weren't trying to defend something that you actually did.

For the sake of discussion I will attempt to explain why I started the other post. Suppose you were a man chatting online and you somehow got to talking to someone who started dropping suggestive lines and hinting all over the place. Sure, we have the duty to hang up then and there but what about someone who is weak?? Or the Muslim guy that I described who had a wife and family?? Sure I made some wild accusations in the other post and I would have taken them back If I had the sense to do so, but now its history so I let it stand. Now to look at the other side a bit is this not entrapment or baiting (whether or not they say its for the good of the world). Dont you think someone should stand up and say something online to warn others of the danger of Dateline and Perverted Justice??? These people are just doing it for their own reasons Dateline for ratings and Perverted Justice who knows maybe they are tring to save the world from going to the trash can. How do we know Perverted Justice is doing the right thing? They are not the Law correct? So how do we know that they are doing things like the police would?? If you look at the Wikipedia site They discuss the actions of the group as being overly abusive. In other words they publish the names and addresses of the accused and their employers and family members- "These tactics are designed to destroy a persons life" says Scott Morrow of Corruped-Justice.com --.....child safety advocate Julie Posey described Perverted-Justice's tactics as "a gross invasion of privacy." Posey indicated that she did not feel the methods employed by Perverted-Justice were completely effective. "What it does is embarrass them for the moment... Here's another Critcizim ..... Bradley Russ, the training director for the federal Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (which has trained about 200 law enforcement agents nationwide) said that the tactics of Perverted-Justice sometimes run counter to the task force's standards. For instance, Russ said, by accepting child pornography from their "busts" to bolster a potential legal case, the volunteers are themselves in possession of unlawful images. He said federal authorities have begun considering whether to seize Perverted-Justice contributors' computers. "It's a noble effort gone too far," Russ told the newspaper. And I could go on and on about this group like how one individual got a vigilante complex(He thought He was the law) Harrasing various poeple and eventually got dismissed-with all his convictions overturned:( This is the only way I know how to say this right now so excuse me for sounding a bit sour. I am not mad at you, just the injustice that I am going through right now. Thanks for the theraputic effect that this post is giving me
    Edited post
    Regards.

I'm not going to argue about this with you. What I'm decribing is how your behavior appears to me, based on what I can see: your posts.

You appear to have joined DP in 2007 for the sole purpose of posting your "men can't control their urges" rant. You then disappear from the forum for more than two years, only returning again now to start this thread about malicious "rumors" about you.

I say that's creepy because this is a webmaster forum, and yet you haven't participated in a single webmaster-related discussions. A significant percentage of your posts here have been long defenses men who try to hook up with teenagers, so that seems to be the primary - only? - topic you are interested in.

What am I supposed to think?
