Do you think they would let me?
How much do you think W3Schools.com is worth?

    Thanks

What makes you want to buy it and more importantly what led you to believe they would be willing to sell it?

I just think that the site has so much potential. I would incorporate a complete video library with every tutorial to have more of hands on and personal experience. I would also expand the library to other languages Rails, Coldfusion etc.

It would all still remain free to everyone

I doubt it would ever sell, remember you'd be purchasing the domain + content which they already have. They've built a very nice website. I wouldn't see getting the site for under $100 million.

Why don't you just build one ? You are going to purchase an already existing site that is probably not for sale anyway, if it is, it will cost you a pretty penny, and then re-do it ?
Why not just build your own and do it the way that you want ?

It' hard to believe that someone with a budget of millions dollars is asking for advices on a free forum.

What is the biggest investment you've made before? Are you sure you can handle such a project?

However, I don't think that they will sell the website.

    Are you serious?
I would rather suggest you to get other domain to build a site with.
    Good luck!

I wouldn't bother.. they only get around 98 Million Page views a month, hardly make anything of that traffic
I would probably drop wikipedia an email instead, they get around 9.6 Billion Page views a month, so at least you might be able to make a couple of bucks off it.. (and its a pretty ugly site, so ya might get it cheap;))

    Cheers

Uh yeah I agree with the other guys on this one.. You can afford a site like w3schools.com and are posting here!? What gives?

If you are a normal joe and dont have millions to spend, just use your brain and come up with an alternative domain name, hand register it for under 10 bucks and then put your money if you have any to good use.

I dont know...like hiring people to make the content that you need to make your site successful...thats a good start.
