"Hello Sir" Do you keep reading?

Generally when I see "Hello Sir" or dear "sir/maddam" in any of my e-mails or inbox of any kind I might just delete it or I perhaps will read a couple sentences before I know it's spam for a fact. I'm writing partly in fact because this seems to be inescapable, like a DP "member" just PM'd be with that very same "Hello Sir" spam that I get in my email box from time to time, zero post count. Delete.

I wanted to hear what your people's opinions on this are. Let's hear a few funny stories if you have any. I figured this was best suited for marketing because it's essentially a marketing gimmick.

    Hello Sir,

No, I do not keep reading.

And if I could do it, I'd dick slap them out of the Internet.

Same with me here as I will just delete it. But spammers are getting more advanced nowadays as they will track down your name then address you with your name.

    Hello Sir/Madam is a passe.
People only read if their name is included.
Hello Gill, only then i'll open the mail.

Well, unless the email is from a credible person. That is important. Such as an opt-in, or people would not only be asking for email, but "name + email". We have seen that "name" is no longer as important as it used to be.

Although the unsolicited "Dear Sir" is a total deleter.

They don't even make it into my inbox, I have a lot of custom rules set so that I never get bothered by that shit.

I'll read it, laugh and then delete it. Some of those are pretty funny. I'm still not giving my bank account number out.

Nobody says "hello sir" in the real world, so you know it's spam before you even read on!

That's one of the lead-ins for those Algerian type scams where you've inherited money, or something similar. They want you to bring money to their country, so the funds can be released. I've heard of some people even being kidnapped for ransom when they showed up without the money.

Nobody says "Hello Sir" in the real world? So what do they say instead upon greeting somebody?

"Hello dude". Is more acceptable and should be used instead.

    Professionals don't say dude.
Sir/Madam or calling by names is their only option.

Lol, i'd rather just see a simple, "Hello,". Although I think if you're working with someone, you should certainly include their name. Even in PM's, I always see if they listed a real name and start with "Hello ....." If they didn't provide anything, I use their nickname. I want them to know that I"m not copy/pasting my response to them.

When it comes to email, anyone I don't know is a delete, unless I know where it came from or what it is related to. So ultimately, if you're spamming me, I don't care what salutation you use, I won't read it.

I've tied to get same crap in one of my email's address. I sometimes read those damn messages. And i have to say guys who send them are stupid scammers. They even don't change a text of their messages, just change names at all. I delete same emails if i don't want to play with that ideot who sent me it.

No - I don't read them....I'm becoming more and more selective about the emails that I spend time reading. Most days I am too busy to take a break to read anything that isn't relevant to business at hand.

I don't have time to read all the spam marketing mails. The moment I recognize them as spam, I will immediately delete just to get that peace of mind.

heck no - if they dont know my name or a username i use then i know is mass spam email

so rarely would i even click or open emails that are not addressed properly in the subject line

why waste time on spam and if is a genuine email i accidently delete they ring email me back anyway

email marketing is hard to get success with unless its your own contact or rented list and they trust / recognise the email sender
