I'm a little new to SEO. I have been doing nothing but placing links on related sites for the past 6 months. I just got a PR 2 rating from Google. Is there anything else I can do to maintain and increase my rating? I was thinking about starting a blog using wordpress. It would be on a sub directory example: www.my-domain-name.com/blog. I don't know if this will help much.
Don't worry too much about the PR rating, there is no direct reflection on how you actually rank in google search results.
I agree with the people above. The many of my PR 0 sites rank before PR 6 sites because of more keyword backlinks. If your site has more backlinks with the anchor text for that word you are more likely to rank higher. Only worry about WHERE YOUR SITE IS in the search engine... Keep building links and you'll see great results! Good, high PR links are obviously better than useless no follow links - Chris
If you want your site pr to raise up then try to get some high pr backlinks. This will help a lot in increasing your site pr.

Now you should try all the SEO strategies like link submission, article submission, press release submission, bookmarking of your site, so you can get more traffic on your site and probably more PR.
Keep it fresh. Keep it up to date. Add relevant backlinks (sites that relate to your site). Avoid link farms. This should keep you building that pr!
Agree Chris. Jay its good that you are making quality back links. Don't bother of PR. Just try to make more quality backlinks.
