A Question for SEO Experts…

I found a very simple 2-page website (one is an XML sitemap) with a highly targeted 3-word domain name in the financial niche.

The 3-word Keyword phrase gets 12,100 Global Monthly Search Volume in Google, has 17,600,000 competing results without quotes and 42,300 competing results with quotes in Google

The site ranks #2 with quotes and #5 without quotes.

All other sites on the first page of Google are high-PR very strong authority sites, with hundreds, if not thousands of pages and backlinks.

The domain is 1 Year, 4 Months and 7 days old. It has 44,120 backlinks from external sites, but it looks like that one site is supplying the majority of these as this site has over 115,000 pages (PR 7) and is providing a site-wide Blogroll backlink.

There are only 13 sites in total linking to this 2-page site.

Apart from the backlinks mentioned already above.

The other backlinks come from a doFollow link from a blog comment, on a PR 4 page (big authority site) and one from a PR 1 page with a doFollow link from a blog comment.

The rest of the backlinks seem to be coming from the site's owners own PR 0 to PR 1 network of 2-page sites

My question/s for all you SEO experts out there is…

Is the Blogroll link totally necessary or would one backlink on the homepage of the PR7 authority site achieve the same results, especially as the 2-page site is still only a PR0 or is it the total lack of content that’s keeping the PR down?

Also, has anyone had success with purchasing Blogroll links?

Blogroll links from PR6 - PR7 blogs can do wonders for your website..

Since they're authority sites with PR6-PR7 you will get ranked a lot higher and it can be even over night if you can get a decent number of high PR links..

    Been there done that..

I've had links off PR 7 sites without those results, so I expect that the Blogroll helped significantly. While I expect there is a period of diminishing returns with links off 1 site, I still expect that it will mean something.
