In that (quite rare) case, then users of digg and reddit will make it go to the front page and it will generate a lot of traffic and also backlinks from people reading digg and reddit and using the news to create blog posts of their own. But most probable scenario will be to do the work himself, it's painfully slow, but having great content (link baiting) is quite rare and requires also work.
