xrumer is just a tool you can get good rankings if you know how to use it and have basic SEO knowledge. regarding spam and how many posts will stay spammed with xrumer it really depends on your post. For example you can post message like: is this product good or not and after that there is link to product page with anchor text. Or you can spam messaage like this get product x here best service ever. Sure last message will be deleted more often... So it depends also on your posts.
xrumer works wonders, but only if you don't abuse its power. If you blast 45 million links (like i did once when i first got it) oh I ranked #1 for some extremely competitve keywords, however it got a massive link penalty and dropped off first page after about a month. Use it cautiously
Like any woodworking tool, it needs to be used cautiously. If google detects you spamming or others complain to google about your spam then you will drop off front page.

To rank at number 1 for competitive keywords for 1 month is still great. You could just do this for serveral sites I guess.

its a shame you think that way. SEO can be 100% whitehat, that is if you intend to do it that way. black hat SEO is for penny pushers and short term get rich quick scheme people. if you have a legit business and focus on long term, then you MUST go whitehat
then u need to stop linkbuilding techniques like exchanging links, social bookmarking, only put links in your article marketing if you feel someone else would have done so if they had written the article, never do link bait, etc basically be a google slave. wat I am saying is lets not google decide for your business what it whitehat and what is blackhat. If your business model is solid, you do not have to depend on google for business.
best way i ever used for my site : create a site, make some post using basic onpage seo technique. then submit it to social networking sites. once you start getting traffic from social networking site. then start make some quality post with original content. remember all tips and tricks are useless if your site don't have some usefull information.. Original content is still king in seo.
Sultan is right. There is nothing called a grey hat SEO. You desperately need to be white hat SEO for long term win. If you are just here to take quick bucks go for black or so called grey hat and get banned lol
