Hi, I am in the process of creating a website promoting a product.
I am very new to website marketing and would really appreciate advice on marketing my website on all the social networks.

    What are the best ways?
    How do I gain followers?

    Thanks so much in advance!

I am fairly new to Twitter but I can tell you what has been working for me. Make sure that we you seek out people to follow and hopefully to get them to follow you back to target your specific niche. Don't waste your time going after the people with the most followers as there are often people out of your industry and therefore won't accomplish anything for you in terms of gaining interest in your tweets and website. Twello is a good site to find categories that match your niche. Go and add followers of your similar interests. Since I started targeting my target audience I have notice much more interaction with people on Twitter. It still doesn't always translate into site traffic but if you are offering something of great interest to people it can work well.

Well, I think that each one is very OK, but the point I think is focus, focus on one or two is great.

"Better" is very subjective, since Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter have different uses. You should use the site that best suits your needs. Remember, there is no penalty for using multiple social networking sites; many people use all three, as well as others such as flickr, orkut, bebo, digg, stumbleupon, last.fm, social.zune, and a variety of forums.

For you here are some points.

Facebook is a popular, free-access social networking website where users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people.

MySpace is a social networking website with an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music, and videos for teenagers and adults internationally.

Twitter is the free, minimalist social networking service that allows users to write, send and post to the Internet short messages via devices ranging from phones to laptops via SMS (text).

What kind of product are you selling? Instead of you trying to promote the product on your own, find people who already have established blogs, forums, youtube accounts,,,, in your niche. Provide them with free samples in exchange for some free advertising.

They post a review of your product, mention your website name, and put a link to your site in their article.

Some of the people on youtube get thousands of views a day. That is a powerful marketing tool. All you have to do is tap into the existing traffic.

Follow others on Twitter and they 'usually' follow you back.

Not as simple as following users. Follow users who care about what you blog about

Twitter is fairly useless unless you really focus on the audience you are trying to attract. Same goes for the other social sites. Lot of work. You have to really concentrate on your target market. Try WebDom. That should help you out. Kind of advanced for beginners. It is a script that helps you attract friends on social networks, but it isn't free and it is pretty in-depth. They have a demo, but it don't do much. Google up WebDominator and you can check it out. I use it.
