    Only Quality backlinks and unique content can give you TOP position in Google so work in that direction so first try to optimize your content and start building strong backlinks from niche related pages. You will surely get TOP position with that. Hope it helps..

    article marketing,directory submissions,social bookmarking etc.

    Quality link building strategies (linking with quality sites) along with relevant content, and Attention To Details. It takes time, but you must be persistent.

    If you're in the sandbox it doesn't matter. You'll come out in 3 months. Keep building backlinks so that when you do come out you'll come out stronger.

    you dont need to aim for number 1, while that is what we all want but you can be on the first page and get a ton of traffic if you term is searched alot

    continually ad more content on your website and linkback to the main page using that keyword in your anchor text. Get lots of backlinks with that keyword in your anchor text!
