How to get organic traffic...

I am looking into setting up a website for local service only.
I would like to setup a blog and keep fresh contect on the blog.

what is the best way to get organic traffic to my local service?

If my local service is located in AL, and I get links from
CA - will this still benefit my site? I can not provide service
outside of my local area, and the goal is to get local
organic links to my site...so i can get local traffic/clients.

    Thanks for your help.

Usually localities have several online classifieds, this can be a good way of getting organic traffic.

For getting good organic traffic., you have to care much about content - that matters more.

The content should call the visitors to comment and must visit your page again - it should be attractive and little funny too..

I suggest you to get backlinks from relevant site - that always will help you a lot..!

You can improve local ranking by building local links. But other links also help. You will get top rank for local Google site while less rank for other country domains.

If you are a local business and dealing B2B in your local community try SuperPages and/or YellowBook Directories. Just type in your zip code on Google's search bar - you will find some local directories. Good Luck

Localization is very important. Word of mouth helps way more then SEO would in your case, promote your blog to real people.

A link is a link, as long as it uses proper anchor text. For example, 'Springville plumbers' can be a link text used from a Smallville or Starville blog or website, for example. It must carry the same value.
