search volumes on new Wordtracker tool

Does anyone know what time period the search volumes on Wordtracker cover?

I haven't used WT for years but thought I'd check out the new version. It doesn't state the period of time the search volumes are for. It is per day, month, 60 days, a year ? What?

THis is a crucial piece of missing information.

I don't like the results in wordtracker. I have tried using it and it give me high traffic results on a specific keyword but when the keywords is already ranking on google. It doens't give high traffic to site.

Wordtracker, Keyword Discovery, Google Adwords tool, it doesn't matter which you choose, you're never going to accurate estimates of search volume. Only a trial PPC campaign can help you with that. But that doesn't mean tools like WT aren't useful. They save you a lot of time in terms of keyword suggestions, measuring keyword competition, etc

There must be a few WT users on here. Doesn't anyone know what timeframe the search volume is over?

    Hi Hal,

The search count in the new tool (US database) tells you how many times each keyword appears in the database for the last 365 days. In the old tools, the dataset only goes back 160 days, so now you can read an entire year's worth of data.

I hope that's helpful, but do drop us a line if you have any more questions.

Mal, I've just watched some of the new WT videos and it refers to daily search count. I've also found a few reviews of WT and they also mention daily search counts. Now I'm confused. Can you clear this up?

    Hey Hal,
It updates the data daily and predicts the next 24hrs based on the lastest database of 365 days.
make sure to take full advantage of the "dig" function. It makes your keyword list grow significantly. I believe this what makes WT better than other tools.

adwords is alo a very good tool but as powerful as WT due to the "dig" capability which give you more keywords to toy with.

adwords is also a very good tool but not as powerful as WT due to the "dig" capability which give you more keywords to toy with.

So the bottom line (if I'm reading this right) is that search volume figures shown by WT are DAILY.
So if I want a monthly estimate, I'd multiply it by 30. Right?

    Hi again Hal,

I'd just like to clarify this point here as it does come up from time to time elsewhere - the search count from Wordtracker (in the new Keyword Tool) is the amount of times each keyword has been typed into one of our partner search engines over the past 365 days. It's not a daily or a monthly figure. It's been suggested in various quarters that certain extrapolations can be applied to these numbers to arrive at a daily or monthly figure for searches, and while for some keywords or niches this might work, it's not really safe to do this, as things like seasonal variation may not be taken into account with this kind of practise.

For many of our customers, the most effective way to look at the numbers is as a relative index (particularly inside a niche) rather than an absolute figure, especially when you consider that what Wordtracker presents is a proportion of search.

In terms of a daily search count, the old Wordtracker tools do offer a daily predict figure, but this is an estimate - it's not in the new toolset. If you're looking for up to date videos, you can find these at:

    http://www.wordtracker.com/academy/videos

However, if this raises more questions, please do feel free to ask!

    best,

    Mal
