If anyone has some advice Id LOVE to hear it! I ran a campaign for about a year. I made 3X from eBay from what I paid Adwords. So I paid 100 to Adwords and returned 300. So this was a pretty good campaign for me. Also I was paying about 5 cents a click. After a year (in Feb) my QS went from 7 to 1 and ads stopped showing. My site was perfect, great ad and landing page. I tried to get it back and it didnt work. Called Adwords and they told me to wait and it should bounce back. Then I go on a 6 month deployment and when I got back this month its still at QS 1. So I created a new site, moved everything over. Started it back up and BAM QS 1 again. So I created a new site, NEW Adwords campaign and BAM QS 1 again. It says I am getting that due to a poor landing page. I have 4,800 unique words on it (quality writing). Keyword in Title, ALT Tag for images, headers, ect. Its probably the best website for info on the subject. Now what do I do? Tried calling/emailing Adwords to have them manually review the account but they keep emailing me the standard BS and never look at it. Any help for this would be appreciate.
it is a damned system During 2007, i used it and it sucks at first i have to pay 1 USD per visitor to get 4 sells at last i only pay 0.15 USD per visitor to get 18 sells. I still dont understand it at all
Google has said openly that affiliate sites are likely to attract a low QS - Google are effectively starting to weed our affiliate sites
Thanks for the help. But this is an amazing content page too. So I highly doubt I would be penalized for an affiliate link.
Doesn't really matter in a lot of cases- if your site has been designed to drive traffic to affiliate links then you can get 'slapped' - doesn't necessarily matter how much content on there - especially after your domain has already been slapped. The proof is in the pudding - you haven't just dropped by 1 or 2 QS points, you've dropped from 7 to 1
i have been doing ppc management for several years now and i am seeing the same problem on a couple of sites i manage. when we try creating new campaigns for them, within an hour, google slaps them with low QS. our rep at google is telling us that it is because they have historically low CTR, but they haven't even been given a chance to establish a CTR. the sites i work with are not affiliate sites and they don't link to affiliates sites. google is telling me they have no advice for us in raising our QS other than spending $30+ CPC to try and get the CTR up! anyone out there with some strategy to overcome this QS problem?
It all depends on where the QS issue lies - if it's a blanket QS of 1 and it's landing page related then you're screwed - you're either an affiliate, bridge page, have a contact form on there etc etc - basically that business model won't work anymore so YOU need to change. If it's not a blanket QS of 1, and it's relevance related then the most likely reason is low CTR. Use different ad creatives and set your ad settings to rotate to test different ads and improve CTR. You may also have to bid high for a little while to get enough CTR history - or it may just be that you can't make this keyword work, it happens, sometimes when you think / hope it really shouldn't. It's at this stage that the good managers know to cut their losses...
