Last week I had a purchaser, with no affiliate link, purchase one of my products twice which I thought was very odd. Then I had chargebacks on both the purchases. I have never had a chargeback on my product before (only refunds), and now I have not gotten any sales for the product in a week which is the longest I have gone without making a sale. Could the chargebacks have triggered something that would cause my product not to sell? I think the chargebacks might have been deliberate ... I have had individuals try to sabotage my product before. What should I do?
It happens. Usually it's someone whose transaction has been processed twice either by error or they've inadvertently done it twice themselves. It sounds very unlikely to me. But only Clickbank can clarify. (Mind you, I do appreciate that their idea of "clarification" usually comprises simply categorically denying that either they or their software can ever be responsible for any error at all). A chargeback is unlikely to be "accidental", so in a sense one must be "deliberate" anyway. Is it possible that someone just bought twice by mistake and the chargeback was supposed to be for only one purchase? I think all you can do is (a) contact Clickbank for help/advice (not always the most productive course, I know, but what else can you do?) and (b) try not to worry about it and carry on as if nothing happened. It may, after all, be a complete coincidence that you haven't had another sale go through since then?
As a web host we have to put up with this a lot. It's very annoying. The majority of charge backs I encounter are from stolen credit cards. There may be software you can find that will defect fraudulent orders and deny them. We actually use a program called "maximind". This will check the users ip and address to make sure they match as well as many others methods. It reduces charge backs a lot. I do not have any experience selling e books but I would imagine there is software out there to detect most of these orders. Since these are the first 2 you have ever received I would wait it out and if it happens often look into available programs/software to help.
Believe me, there's nothing "dangerous" going to happen due to the chargebacks. Its normal behavior. It happens.. They can't trigger anything that will prevent future sales.. No fault of "chargebacks" here, its just either your traffic or your sales page that is preventing sales.
I've had dozens of chargeback's Why would you make them so different from a refund. Basically it's the same one thing except customers are asking for it straight through their banks. Al.
OK, there is no frickin way this is a coincidence. I have not had a sale in 8 days ... I have NEVER had that happen since product launch, not even 3 days without a sale. I had two chargebacks which I NEVER had happen and then suddenly ... no sales ... for 8 days?. Coincidence my ass.
I wouldn't worry about this at all, instead I would focus on making more sales, driving more traffic and collecting more leads. You should be 100% fine =) - Chris
Chargebacks with CB is not a big problem. There are many affiliate networks that charge more for a chargeback.
Yeah, if you were talking about 100 sales and 80 charge backs then even I would have been worried. Al./
If you have any concerns, I would just contact Clickbank on the matter...but chargebacks are a fact of life.
right, because if Clickbank were actually "suspending" the account and not crediting commissions because of the charge back, they would definitely tell you the truth about that
I think Clickbank would have notified you if you were not making any more sales due to being suspended from their program.
still no sales ... I got this email from CB I already am in the process of getting the product approved in a new account. Does anyone think this is a bad move? Should I wait LONGER? A DPer pmed me and told me he had the very same problem with one of his products. After he created a new cb account and redirected all traffic there, sales started coming back in again.
