Both Win and Ubu has advantages and disadvantages.. Win is paid - Ubu is free Win is less secure - ubu is secure win is reliable - ubu is less reliable win has all soft and drivers - ubu has lack of softwares and drivers etc.. etc.. So at the end.. it just depends what suits your need...
Linux is just a piece of shit, When you Say Windows Vs Linux u are reducing the insane value of Windows, Yes if you say Windows Vs Mac then anyone can understand, You can't shag your life with stupid Open Office and stupid shake Beyrl graphic yuck thu
In my opinion I prefer Ubuntu more than Windows. That is because of freedom and that it can be amazingly customized. I can share my Ubuntu and software for Ubuntu without being a pirate. Programming in any Linux is much easier than in Windows, every compiler, every library can be installed with one click. Yes, Windows has insane price
To show how much you know, Macs use OSX which is Unix. Windows can only hope to perform as well as *nix. It never will because of its legacy baggage. Unix never has this problem because it can be set up to adapt, bend and change. So working well with legacy programs has no affect on new standards and practices.
Windows is just easier to work with, why fight against the flow? Ubuntu is great to mess around with every once in a while and get work done and stuff, but Windows will always dominate in this type of world where Microsoft is in every business and home office.
And there's the point. *nix is where one goes to get work done. Windows is a consumer product, like the family van. But a construction worker would not bring the family van to work for lifting big rocks. To get real work done, one uses a Mack truck. *nix is the Mack truck.
Linux, for several common people is sucks, but they said like that, because they never use it. If you already try it, you will be in love with linux. Windows is good, because many people use it, but, for the security, they are terrible. Many virus spread through this system. Once again, you decided which one better for you.
Ubuntu is good but some things must be changed... - player, Rhythmbox is nice but can't compare it with Winamp, the same with Audacious2 is buggy and is freezing in 9.10 when you try to load a playlist in .m3u (no problems with Rhythmbox) - if a library or something is changing, updating your favorite program can stop working, example, Sopcast is not working in 9.10. - fonts, is replacing original fonts of a website with another fonts so isn't the best for design. - to install NET framework 2 is an adventure and by ugrading can stop working. - some great or unique tools for design, seo or music can't run on Ubuntu. - sometimes is not user friendly. Don't understand me wrong, in general i like it and use it but i told you what i don't like because i want more, i want a real competitor for Windows.
well ubuntu is a great OS for those people who are using it because it has the following advantages over windows it is available for free great security easy to use but difficult to find the programs that support ubuntu
.NET has no place on Ubuntu. Unless you mean through Mono or Wine but .NET has no place on Ubuntu and *nix. Absolutely false. Linux, itself, is a professional operating system. Ubuntu is trying to make it for every day users but they've only been trying for a few years.
We use both - Ubuntu is our favorite *nix flavor, hands down. However, we've invested quite a bit into our setup on Windows (Sony Vegas, Photoshop, Camtasia Studio, Microsoft Office 2007, Adobe Acrobat, I could go on...) so we compromise by having two systems with both operating systems. There's plus and minuses - it's nice to code in Ubuntu, but when I need to sit and crank out a few videos for clients, I find myself in Windows again. When I have an Ebook to produce, it's back to Windows. It's nothing against Ubuntu, it's just that when I need to work on something, I tend to want to focus on the task at hand. Just my two cents. I've used *nix since '03, from Mandrake to Debian to Gentoo and Slackware (my personal favorite ). I'm out of the tech world but it's still nice to know I can hack my way through
Well.. I've been using Windows since version 3.0 Ubuntu is the future, changed two years ago after Vista and never looked back. Wouldn't be surprised to see MS acquiring Ubuntu one of these days.
