I have a decent established keywords for my main page, but I am trying to rank higher in google for individual posts as well. Many of my posts are ranked on first page but on 5-10th rank. How do I get it on the first three? I am not targeting highly competitive keywords.

I have heard to get a backlinks. But the backlinks, I get are usually for my homepage. (and boy, its hard to get!) I have tried a dofollow blogs, but in my niche, there are hardly any dofollow blogs. And I don't want to spam on those are not of my niche.

Can someone suggests me few steps to rank higher for these individual posts? Here are the things, I have tried.
    • I have been using blogcarnival, and that is truly helpful.
    • Dofollow comments on few blogs
    • link exchange requests (but that is mainly for homepage)
    • directory submissions (few of them)

    Thanks.

Interlink your individual post with other posts within the same domain/site. Be consistent in the keyword you used for interlinking. Also, get inbound links for that particular post from other high-ranking sites.

personally I think the only best bang for your buck type of deal is to get more backlinks.

pr sculpting is going to help you slightly too.

What is your blog and what is its niche?

Once I know that I might be able to help haha, but usually you want awesome keywords. Use googles keyword tool to find great keywords, click here to read how use it and make the best of it http://netsuccessblog.com/2009/11/07/how-to-use-googles-keyword-tool-–-find-the-keywords-you-need/ , make your posts keyword rich and full of your own content. Also use more social bookmarking sites to create backlinks after you have done your keyword research, social bookmarking provides quick and effective traffic to your post.

    Hope this helps!

I think his problem is more like he has already had his keyword in mind and once that set, his top competitors just have more quality/quantity of links over him.

MRawesome: My question is for individual posts. I have my main keywords. that is not a problem. But, as individual posts usually vary from many different topics (from same niche), how to rank well for those longtail keywords?

How to ask for backlinks for individual post keywords?

If you are concerned with individual posts, then social bookmarking would be a good choice.

Do regularly Post Unique articles in Different Articles Directories like EzineArticles.com, GoArticles.com, ArticleDasboard.com, etc, and Link to the Inner page and Main page.

use the number of backlinks that a website has as one of the most important factors for determining that website's search engine ranking....

I see two possible ways; first proper onpage optimisation (I know the outcry coming now from those who always repeat "you need more links" but that's just the stereotype answer of those who have no idea. One of my individual blog pages is outranking the mismissimo google.com for "link building penalty" without quotes and without links :D )

Second choice (and easier to achieve) is to get some links directly pointing to your individual page with the article title or page name used as anchor. If you don't know how to do that, I can get you the links for a small fee.

Thanks Monfis. I agree, I have heard so many generic answers. Can you tell me some effective ways or resources for the second choice (links for individual posts)?
