This happens to be yet another amazement from Mumbai ....
One of Mumbai's Important Shores is located at Mahim ....

Now in the evening today, 2 kids happened to be swimming in the sea, when accidentally one of em swallowed sea water, and he was amazed to not feel the normal salinity of the water that he expected.

He ran outside telling everyone that the sea had no salty taste..... In the evening there were about 50-100 people on the beach ....

Now its 2 in the morning and .....there is a crowd of about 15-20 thousand on the beach filling the water and to witness this miracle.

Now even Dadar area seems to have that normality in the water.

Our mayor and other officials reached the spot, and confirmed the news, other lab people have collected samples and begun research.

The doctors have advised not to drink this water ... but people just won't stop ....

    It's a Dammmned miracle ........

There are many reasons mate ...

As you said, there were points raised regarding the rains ....
Also, as we know saline water has greater density and sinks to the bottoms ...
But it was denied since the magnitude of the sea is huge and at such times the rains water would rather mix with the already saline water than stay at the top ....

Also, rains were everywhere ... then why only the area near Mahim lost salinity ?? Why not other places ....

Also early morning, high-tide commenced but still the lack of salinity continues ...

They are telecasting that samples have been taken to labs and people are working on what's wrong ....

Dunno if we can call this a 'miracle' ... but yeh it sure is something abnormal ...

Perhaps the seawater just got so diluted by the sewage and industrial effluent that no-one can taste the salt anymore. Ew.

Ummm ... I guess by sweet it means the water has turned to a state of notaste ...
And I don't think industry effluents would "dilute" sea water.

And as such there are no major industries by the sea .....

*edit* .. The responses/remarks am getting in here are more of with a sarcastic tone, something to which am not comfortable clarifying my points at .. so I guess I wun be replying to anything more on this thread until I find some info or stuff .... (Not that anyone cares ... but still) :)

This is no Miracle nothing divine..
And I saw a bunch of Morons drinking Sea water like ummmm morons..

    Robbie..Spot on dude..
There was very very heavy rain few days back in Mumbai+Gujrat.. The Flood water goes to Arab Sagar, that fresh water caused the salt density and Ph level of the sea water going down. thats why it had tasted not so salty.

But everyone seemed to forget that, that water was highly poluted and toxic.
I dont know how many of them going to suffer because of this *cough* divine miracle *cough* ...

An Infrared sat imaginary will show the difference between Temprature of the Normal sea water and the Fresh water very easily....

But man we live in the country where statues drink milk, no??
