I wish I started this a while back...

I have always heard from gurus and super aff to build a list - but have been so busy making money otherwise, that I never paid attention.

Then last month I finally decided to try it out. I created a optin in one of my ppc driven sites and I collected more than a 1000 emails. So yesterday I decided to email them and guess what I had more than $500 worth of sales today.

I wish I had started this earlier.

The first email you sent to the list was a sales pitch?

I wouldn't count on that every time. Esp if you wait a month before you mail the list. I assume your niche is highly targeted.

I have several follow up messages and specific intervals that go out after anyone signs in - this way they are not 'forgetting' that they ever signed up.

So just last week I sent out a sales letter as broadcast.

Wow congratulations on the sales. Do you think you could tell us what products you made sales with?

How often do you plan to send sales pitches to your email list? Once a month? I'm sure you don't want to spam them and have everyone opt out, so there's got to be a nice mix between quality content sent out and sales pitches.

@duke I would just say that they were leads that I got paid $18 for name, address & phone - no sale had to be made.

@chef probably half and half - 2 times sales pitch and 2 times content.

How did you create the optin? Was it an ebook?

Nice work... I have an opt in list of just under 97,000 that grows by about a thousand a week and there is nothing like sending out a sales pitch one day and seeing the revenue the next.

Having an opt-in list can certainly pay dividends. In my experience, it's important to keep providing subscribers with useful information and offers - don't just bombard them with sales-speak.

Well maybe something more than that.. since ebook give away has become the norm and somewhat not exciting any more.
