Why Buy Traffic?

What is the point of buying traffic? I see people offering 1000's of visits per day or 100k visits. Does this improve SERP placement on Google?

It certainly seems like it will throw off my analytics.

Do you think a storefront might actually get a sale off of this kind of traffic?

traffic = revenue. more traffic you have, more money you make. real human traffic that is and it needs to be targetted for you to convert the traffic to sales. most of the people that sell such traffic are scammers btw sending you bot hits with some proxy setup. those traffic dont convert. if someone had real human targetted visitors, they would not sell them for petty cash. they would convert that traffic themselves

I've wondered this too, I see people saying I need 2000 visitors and someone is like I can provide that through bots. Why would you want bot traffic?

Those traffic sellers are scammers. Even google analytics does not show that traffic. I have been scammed twice.

Buying traffic does not inrease your SERP, that is really have not a relation. Many people buying some traffic if they are join in Pay per lead program, Affiliate program, adsense, and other program like that.

I never pay for my traffic. I get them myself from promoting my own site and that's the best way to go. Getting more traffic doesn't affect your rankings on search engines either.

Sometimes when I see those ads for 100000 hits to your site or 100000 backlinks, I do a quick Google search and find the company name with the word "scam" right after it.

It is nice to buy traffic when a blogger is starting to generate traffic so that their blog or site could attract more page view or visitors or they could try free through Traffic Exchange sites or other sites that offer such services. But if you already have an income of your sites, then it is advisable to gain visitors through organic traffic from search engines and social utility or network

Well, if the traffic is real (e.g. PPC) & targeted, you'll make money.

However, most of these offers are junk anyways and just bots hitting your server thus none will convert and you won't make any money.
