*EDIT*: NOTICE: The stats provided seemed to be completely inaccurate from a very reputable keyword research tool; that's why I did not bother to double check. You may consider skipping this thread. OK, now I have to be honest. This freaked me out big time..LOL PR is related to SERPS and SERPS and PR are related to backlinks. Backlink discussions everywhere, link sales, we obviosuly know the importance of link building. I have just began using keyword research tools very recently and it came up with this 'nice' page: http://www.healthfinder.gov/news/newsstory.aspx?docID=632448 Very ordinary page, simple article, PR6 and ZERO backlinks. LOL, What on earth is that? It's either I'm too ignorant and really, really, really, REALLY overestimating the importance of backlinks or these guys bribe Good ol' Google. It just got me pulling my hair out. They reached PR6 because of what? Just the content? Well, all kind of SEO services should shutdown then I hope someone has a good explanation! From Wikipedia: (That's 'supposed' to be the definition of PR) Awesome, how about > NO LINKS at all? LOL Thanks, please share your thoughts!
It's showing PR0 - and that's because it is a new page. The home page is a PR8. PR passes from the home page to all pages linked to, so it will show toolbar PR when google update toolbar PR - probably in about 3 months.
Yeah, prchecker.info shows N/A but through Market Samurai, it showed PR6. I'm uploading a screenshot now... *Edit*: Have a look: Could it be that much inaccurate? Can't differentiate between PR0 and PR6? Oh God, this software is too expensive to not be able to recognize the difference between a PR0 and a PR6 webpage. Or maybe it just estimated the webpage to be of PR6 after a certain time due to the homepage PR? Can you explain a bit more about that 'PR inheritance' thing? The content does not have to be relevant nor backlinks are needed?
Use the google toolbar with ie or an extension with firefox - other tools can be unreliable. Use yahoo explorer to check for backlinks - which shows the page does indeed have backlinks from the .gov site. There is nothing unusual about this page showing a PR0 (because it is new) or PR in the future (because PR passes internally). The software you are using is just plain wrong.
I used the Iwebtool link checker found here: http://www.iwebtool.com/backlink_ch...thfinder.gov/news/newsstory.aspx?docID=632448 And it came up with zero backlinks. So I'm still confused, what is its real PR anyway? If it shows PR0 now, and we assume that PR passes internally, is there a 'calculation' for that? I mean, why PR6. And will PR pass even if that internal page is irrelavant and has poor content? (not the case, but just a question)
Dimitrov Man do some research first. The page is PR NA Install Google Toolbar and only trust the toolbar other softwares are unreliable.
Forget about the PR6 from an inaccurate tool. No one knows what the PR will be until google does an update. Yahoo site explorer is the best tool for checking backlinks, period. Relevancy has nothing to do with PR. Content has nothing to do with PR. PR comes 100% from backlinks - internal or external. You really shouldn't focus on PR if you are trying to increase your rankings for a keyword. Focus on getting backlinks from sites that already rank high for the keyword you are targeting.
Alright, thanks for the feedback, guys. I couldn't possibly imagine that it would throw a +6 ahead irrelavant PR, especially because there are exteremly positive reviews out there. Should have double checked. Anyway, I'm editing the first post so as not to waste people's time.
