Altho' Paypal is reliable, and I absolutely love using their services .. but everytime i finish negotiating a deal, and I received the payment via paypal, it just hurt so much to see so much money for the paypal charges. And ... when you want to transfer the money out (international), oh goody, the exchange rates is just so amazing!! Ended up losing a few hundred dollars every month : )) bah ..
I guess you are already aware of wire transfer (it works best for heavy transactions, at least to me).
Right on. I guess that's one of the advantage, it charges fees. LOL. However, it is safe, fast and easy to use.
I never withdraw money from Paypal, instead I use it to pay online services such as web hosting or services/ads. I earn money online on my paypal account and then I spend it on other online services. That way I don't have to use my credit card, I feel better about paying for such services, knowing that it's not "real" money that I had in my bank account yet. It's stupid but I feel better that way, then other earnings which go to my bank account directly by wire or check are left untouched by online stuffs I have to pay.
The exchange of Paypal is very not fair, my local bank is around 7.8 but Paypal is 7.55, and they have already charged around 3.4% transaction fee, anyway we have no more choice or alternatives right now.
Ask your clients to send money as a gift, then fee charged is comparatively less then compared to normal transactions.
I use paypal and I dont have any problem with them. Here in my country which is Philippines, they charge very small when you transfer it to bank accounts. for $130 and up... its free.
I made a big deal to and from 2000 they got 60 :/. Despite I feel better when i pay my bills through paypal knowing that they will get less money.
Yeah! It sucks every time but you can try to create understanding between client so you can as friend
I used Moneybookers recently to send a wire transfer to a friend in Serbia and the charges for the transfer was less than a Euro. But they did take 1.9% since i paid with my credit card.
Hard to have an understanding with the clients when it involve charging them a little higher than intended to
I also love and hate paypal. I've been using them since 2002 when i was a PowerSeller on Ebay. I'm sure They've earned over $20,000 from me over the years.
You know what I do? Charge them tax. This way- you don't pay the fee's and win some more. Not sure how legal it is or if the IRS are going to come knocking on my door but it's what I do to avoid paying paypal fee's when I offer a service. just my .02c
