What free and paid press release distribution site would you recommend? Which one is good for SEO and allow links (free or at reasonable price)?

I'd like to know that too...

Here is a list of the top recommended ones though:

    http://www.socialseo.com/press-release-syndication/pr-services-we-recommend.html

PRweb.com is a top performer, from what I've heard.

The free ones have to be taken with a grain of salt. Most of them don't really do much for you unless you go with a paid version, so they're not really free,.

Ezinearticles.com has a free service, so you may want to put your news up there if you're an EZA author, but don't let that be the only place.

Ezinearticles is for ... articles, not for press releases :)

Excerpt from their Editorial Guidelines: "your article MUST NOT be a press release, advertisement, sales letter, promotional copy, or blatant and excessive self-promotion or hype." (source: http://ezinearticles.com/editorial-guidelines.html)

I have paid thousands in press releases and the company that gave me the most return was http://www.free-press-release.com/

Just give it a try, it has a free option, but if you want to drive traffic to your site you have to pay $1 per ad.

So far the highest ranking press release website in my research.

In my opinion getting into Google News is the most important part of a press release. Once its listed in Google News website will pick up the release free.

Often submitting the same release to many sites is a waste of time.

I use http://www.release-news.com its free and if its unique it goes in Google News within minutes

I am using idea marketers. It's not just for article submission, idea marketers has press release submission too. I'm using prlog too, pressmethod, pressreleasepoint.com and free-press-release.com. Those are free sites.

Prweb is the best, but it is not free. www.free-press-release.com/ releases are usually at the top of Google within four hours. And it's FREE!

Personally I prefer to pay the $1 and get a link to my page. Beats the hell out of PPC.

You're right as far as Ezinearticles itself goes! They frown on press release-type articles.

    I should have been clearer:

Ezinearticles.com does have a separate website for press releases:
    http://www.PressExposure.com

And yes, it is for press releases, not articles.

I like webwire.com too! One of my clients got great results -- hugely increasesd her visitors to her website! (and it costs just $19, which is VERY low for the paid continguent.)
