What control panel do you plan to use. Webmin works well for a single owner.

Have you never worked with cPanel and WHM before?

Unless I am miskaten it should be fairly easy to add your sites. Custom nameservers is the most difficult thing you have to do if you are using them.

you need to either a) create a package first, or b) use manual settings

I was trying to do it without manual settings so I think it did not work....
By custom name servers you mean to update the name servers of my domain account, right? or something else? Please clarify...

I think there is some error with the name server pointing...
I received a email with following details: The hostname <hostname> resolves to . It should resolve to <ip address>. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

    How can I correct this?

You need to add an A entry into your DNS zone for your domain name. If you would like a hand setting this up, send me a PM, and I'd be glad to help.

Before you can add a domain to WHM you have to define one or more packages. A package is nothing more than the allowed mb of disk space and the bandwidth allowed for the account. For just my own needs I usually set up 3 mini, basic, ultimate.

Once you start to create a package you will understand the process.

Then when you go to add a domain name you select the package that applies to it.

In WHM, under DNS Functions, there is a link called:

Add an A Entry for your Hostname

try performing a dns cleanup under DNS functions and then if it asks again, add it. That should help.

Your host should provide you with dns servers to place into the resolv.conf file. You could use open dns servers as well, like opendns.com. For your hostname, is the domain name hosted on that server? For example, if your hostname is server1.yourdomain.com, is yourdomain.com hosted on the same server?

No, my domain is not hosted on that server... I will contact the server provider for it. Thanks
One more query. To which IP will I point the nameserver?? I received 5 IPs. One is the Main server IP. Will I use the other 2 for the nameservers??

Also when I try to add A Entry for nameserver I get the error: Sorry, a DNS entry for <ns1.mydomain.com> already exists. How can I see to which IP the nameserver points or change it??

    Thanks for all the help.
