I had been working on a new product for last 2-3 months and suddently my hard drive crashed... no backups and I hate to send it to these restore services as it'll take another few weeks to hear back from them. oh well.. just ranting :)

wow.. the exact same thing happened to me few months ago..
What I did was.. I purchased new harddisk.. and used EASEUS Data recovery software (its not free .. but I used 4shared.com to download it for Free :D ) and I restored all the data from that crashed disk to the new one using that software... and problem solved.
Remember... You don't lose data unless you delete it.. the data will be there but it's unreadable.. these data recovery softwares recover those unreadable data to readable one..
I recovered my 250 gb hard disk in about 4 hours ;)

Hahaha You are so me. :p A couple of months ago however (since my hard drive decides to send me signals that it's already about to die sometime soon - which clued me in that I needed to save my important data), I decide to put all my important files in thumb drives. I have like 2 & they're full of my crap to the brim. That's my back-up. LOL

Well, we just had to totally reinstall Windows XP due to New Win32 totally fucking up our computer, but of course the XP disc saved us, just took awhile to find as it was still packed from moving.

Thanks krarn - that's awesome you told me about 4shared - I might in fact be able recover it finally.

@Nintendo - It's not about affordability but more oversight and just being too busy in launching campaigns each day.

    damn....
i'm so sorry for you man...
back up is very important, people should lose sometimes in order to learn...

i once lost 100 GB or so....
after that i've bought a hard disk and i'm updating my back up every once and a while.

i'm so sorry for what happened to you...

These things happen and it is good to take precautionary measures but I feel, whatever has to happen... will happen!

Even if you take all the back ups, what if back ups itself fail at the same time! :(

You did the right thing....by letting out the outbursts...and move along! :)

    Regards,
