Using the same keyword more than twice in a Title tag is not a mistake.

Just make a search and see the top ten results titles...

Additionally, making your link signature into a bold type That's what I read in other forums.

 

Sitemaps are not always necessary and meta data is not important for SEO (although it helps to have a good description to entice visitors who are using search engines to find your site).

 

Having a duplicate meta description tag is more harmful than having none - a common mistake is filling out a global description which is then duplicated on pages.

 

Nice post but according to me the gravest mistake that can be done in SEO is ignoring the title tag.

One of the most common SEO mistakes I see made is not targeting the right keywords. You need to be realistic about what keyword phrases you have the potential to rank for. You may need to focus on a more specific keyword phrase to start ranking well. For exmaple, how many people are trying to rank for "car insurance"? No matter how hard you try you won't get to the first page of Google for that search term because big companies like Progressive and Geico are spending millions of dollars a year to dominate the SERPs. It's much more effective to target a more specific keyword phrase like "california cheap car insurance" and start building links and content around that.
