Ergh - 13 clicks = $0.93

Yes, this is one of those bitch and moan threads. Last night I got 13 clicks (most of the day is still to pass) and only $0.93 from it.

The reason why my CTR jumped from 2 or 3 was because last night I changed the colours of the adsense text to something more clashing with the site's colours. (To see, just click the "chaser" link below)

Usually I'll get around $2 from around 4 clicks. Why is it so low tonight? What keywords are you guys seeing on my ads?

I would take that.. My gaming website gets a solid 20-30 clicks a day and i probaly range with only a buck from it.

The problem is that with a blog that contains posts on a variety of topics, Google has no way of determining what the site is about. It then does the best it can do with what it has to work with -- which usually is not very good.

Try focusing your blog on a specific topic and use section targeting to try to get the ads to become more relevant. You could read the following article to see there is anything else that might help - Low Adsense CTR Problems

you may have been smartpriced or have low paying keywords like "blog"

I have found recently that digitalpoint has likely been smart priced as my earnings from here have dropped whilst the lciks have remained steady!

Best you can do is add some section targetting with some higher paying keywords and see what happens

Yep, one of my newsposters recently had the word "blog" in his article and of course ads about blogs appeared and all of a sudden 10 clicks where only worth 0,50 cent instead of the usual 2-3 dollars. Happens to all of us.

just make your aim in life to get rid of "blog" ads and you will be right I get low CTR on my blog site and recently blog ads have shown up giving me about 3 cents per click.

Beore hand it was getting me more.

I used section targetting and got rid of a few blog ads and this helped a lot

If you use section targetting, your blog can be on as various as you want because it will ignore everything except the targeted segment.

Maybe they are showing public service ads. If they dont find any relevant ads, then they show the public service ads, like help katrina victims etc.. They dont have any value...

Why does everyone miss the "confidentiality" section of the TOS where it's states that it's against the rules to share your CTR's? Generalities will get by, but listing your precise CTR's is expressly forbidden. I sure hope that no one from Google is part of this forum because I would hate to see peope get banned for not following those rules :(
