It's a sure TM issue especially if the domain/site becomes bigger.

You might be able to make use of it as a "google sux" type of site. TheGoogle slapped me... TheGoogle smart-priced me sort of thing. These fall under first amendment rights and do not infringe on trademark or copyright laws.

But then... Google can still sue you and unless you have the money to put up any fight... they will win.

"In theory, its a good name, and could be built off the popularity of Google. I dont think owning the name is an issue, its what you do with it. Try contacting Google, and see if you can work something out"

I think that's bad advice in this case. it would be like screaming "hey guy, I'm bumping on your trademark. I should know: I have www.googleadssuck.com, and it get decent traffic. . .i'm thinking about creating a forum there. Don't know!

Just checked how many extentions are taken, lots of people have registered it! Not a smart move IMO

    Great advice

And he'll get a C&D letter from Google

Ha ha, thanks for maintaining interest for over two years. I never bought it, because of all the talk of trademarking and such.

googlehosting (dot) org has been up and running since 07. I did the same brain dead move when I started and still own googlevault (dot) com. The site is still there although I have not been promoting it. Made sure I put a disclaimer on it though. Been waiting for google to come knocking on my door ever since.
