page rank it still important?

Hello people i would like to ask if page rank is still important for the new algorithm of google now.. Because i read from other forums that page rank is now dead.. Few days from now google updated page rank but some says that it is not important.

 

Page rank has not been important for years. Certainly not as it pertains to ranking. I am not sure what the domaining crowd thinks. It is still a fairly good indicator of a few things but not in terms of SEO.

But, you haven't been able to see it in that little green bar for a very long time.

You can get a feel for its relative importance if you look in the Google Directory and compare the cat listings (ranked by PR) against the SERPs.

I think that most would agree that anchor text is far more important than PR, but don't underestimate the power of PR in the G algo. Just don't worry about it. It's in a little black box now days.

 

Here is a good example; Pagerank is equal to a paint job on a car, it makes it look great, but has nothing to do with whats under the hood; same with websites.

 

I have to agree with everyone above.... the little green bar shows us the importance of our websites ect..
but if Google removes it from our browsers then we have to maintain our techniques... and create solid work.

 

This product was introduced by G for technical persons but when it saw that PR was becoming fever for Tom, Dick and Harry then they backed out their praise in a way that masses don't take interest in PR any more.

But I think PR is itself a good indicator of sites repute on net.

 

It is important in the sense that higher page rank generally means better backlinks. I don't think it really holds weight in the rankings though.

 

Yes, Pagerank just helps to show the importance of a web page as you get more backlinks towards it.

 

i never really care about Page Ranks unless i want to link exchange to some sites that has PR's...

ok i have found websites that has a high page rank from page rank 4 up but it does not have backlinks..

 

before to have a higher page rank you need huge of backlinks but for now there are lots of websites that has few backlinks but high page rank.. Mean page rank is not more important today.

 

Never. If you are really getting enough traffic to your site, then what is the need of getting PR. So work on to get more traffic.

 

PR is still working and more important so don't worry

Page Rank is more of a reputation thing, it is a sign of acknowledgment from Google that the persons hard work is paying off.

 

That exactly the reason why PR is important

 

When you get reach on the desired keyword ranking then it will not be important. But before you can reach that top SERP you need to establish your back links and consequently PR will grow too.

 

I divide up PageRank into these broad categories:

0-3: New sites or sites with very minimal links
4-5: Popular sites with a fair amount of inbound links
6: Very popular sites that have hundreds of links, many of them quality links
7-10: Usually media brands (NYTimes.com), big companies or A-list bloggers.

 

agree with you , since google has un-regularly update the PR, but here on Dp if you wanna sell something user see for good PR .... LOL that seem look sad who people have low PR but good quality on alexa ranking,.....

I will not regard PR as dead before Google remove it from the Google Toolbar - until then I will continue to believe that it has a purpose for Google
