My site is only 9 months old and i am averaging 1,900 unique visitors per day throughout the website. My unique visitor rate is increasing dramatically though and so the average is rising as well. Its only the 4th of November 09 and I have had 18,028 unique visitors (in 4 days!) since November 1st 09. My alexa rank is now 405,361 but I still don't have any google page rank yet even though I show tons of links from other sites to mine. And I am still not listed in Yahoo or Dmoz. I also don't pay for advertising so I don't know where all of this traffic is coming from. Any thoughts?
How do you know you have all those visitors? Most of the stats reporting also tell you where the visitors are coming from if they tell you how many. Some do better job than others or have more details. Add google analytics tracking or some other if you don't have it. The popular awstats available in many hosting control panels will give you some of this info too.
Its kinda odd since Alexa shows what country the traffic are coming from.I suggest using another tool or perhaps install the GA analytics yourself.
Just be sure to optimize your home page for SEO purposes, ease of use, and interaction. Creating a positive user experience will get visitors to return again and again.
^yup I agree, put fresh and useful contents almost everyday and readers/users would get back and perhaps subscribe with your rss feed.
I use awstats regularly as it shows the amount of unique visitors per month.. I am still trying to learn about analytics. I get most of my traffic from the Us and from the Uk as well as China.
Maybe alexa count using visitor country based for their rank; blog with 2000 visit / day, visitor came from Southeast Asia compare with blog with 180 visit / day, visitor majority came from US is equal/almost equal in their rank
Submit to yahoo, it not indexed. For google ranking you have to be linked from better PR sites i.e. high PR than yours, instead of all. However PR is now worthless!
Alexa ranking is nothing to do with Google indexing. The best thing you can do is to submit sitemap of your website in Google. Open a webmaster account with G and verify your site with their short code. Also try to get some quality links. Don't bother much about Alexa until you have your site indexed in Google and yahoo or other search engines. Also find out the sources from where you are getting this traffic. It might be the case that 50% of traffic are from Bots or crawlers.
Mr. this is the title question and I ans. for that. Thanks for your experts opinion, but read before posting.
