    Hey folks,

How significant/important do you think (know?) that header tags are in SEO?

    Thanks!

They are very significant since they are used by search engine crawlers to under stand the structure of your content. This is the basic reason to use heading tags; to properly structure content.

    Thanks Feathers!

So will the location be important as well?

I can't just through them in at the end of the document to make the search engines happy?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

See H1 Tag is showing to search engines crawler to take this tag as main tag of my content that means this tag is giving over view of entire content page or web page.

Thanks - but does the location in the HTML matter. If I lump them in at the bottom of the page, will I get penalized?

Ummm Don't do that... As feathers said, they should be used to structure your document. Lumping them all at the bottom does not help structure your document.

IMO <h1> should appear once on the page at the top... <h2>s should be spread throughout the page as needed. Both should help reinforce the keywords being targeted by the <title>.

Are the headlines in a newspaper at the beginning or end of the story?

Do book chapters have headings at the beginning of the chapter or end?

Do news casts start with a headline at the beginning of the story or end.

All one needs to find success online is some common sense.

I use H2 tags on my header and footer. So far so good.
