is there a tool available online which can help me generate meta tags, title and description for a page.
Type them out by hand. Use the target keyword as the first word in your title tag. Use other secondary keywords that are also found in the content of your webpage to fill in the title and metas.
most of these tools suck, you better roll your own. btw why do you need meta stuff? i thought its outdated?
Because you thought wrong. Title & Meta Description are very important to obtaining high keyword rankings. Keyword Meta Tag is no longer relevant.
If meta tags were so important then blogs (like blogger which does not have meta tags) would have never ranked well. Meta tag description is just used to display snippets in search results and that too rarely. Meta keyword is dead alright.
Everything except Meta Tags. Remember i am only talking about Google's algorithm. Some search engines such as Yahoo and Bing might find these Meta Tags relevant.
<title>1-2 keywords in the page title</title> <meta name="description" content="Add 2 to 3 keywords in your page's description keeping it readable." /> You do not need any other meta tags.
Ok and then perhaps you can enlighten everyone on why the following is found inside the Webmaster Tools panel Google provides. Meta description Pages Duplicate meta descriptions 7 Long meta descriptions 0 Short meta descriptions 6 As for your analogy with Blogger which of course is a Google product that is going to be pushed to the top whether or not a single link to it existed just as every Google product is promoted by Google...... there are always exceptions to the rule, especially where SEO is concerned. Next additional search engines send quality traffic and they seem to like the description tag. In a tight race I am going to implement a meta description tag, if it may give me an edge over the competition. In closing my 1000's of front page rankings on Google.com, which last year after year, (I have some in place over 5 years straight ) tell me I am doing something right, so I am not about to hop off the horse midstream.....
These meta tags are giving you errors ha ha As i told you earlier these tags are used in displaying snippets dude. Thats why Google wants them corrected ! I already explained meta tags do work for other search engines. Please read and reply. There is your answer - "It may give me an advantage"
I know they are giving me errors, however the site still gets a crap load of traffic so I am not fixing what is not broke. Plus I have a few 100 other sites to worry about.... As far as wanting them for snippets LOL Not .....seriously they make snippets from whatever they want, the first paragraph of content on a site can be used, at times they use ODP and you can tell them not to use them too. A quick check of GWGuidelines however does not have them recommending the use of meta description, but they do recommend using alt image text Of course if people believe what Google tells you to do.... well I will be nice and leave things there...
Mr Gill Took me a while but I found it.. From Googles SEO PDF It really bothered me I might be wrong, so I made sure I wasn't Phewww now I can go on about my day......
It would always be better to do it manually to create relevancy with the page topic and your targeted keywords.
There are some really good tools out there. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...avclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGGL_enIN342IN343&ie=UTF-8 But, I prefer to do them manually.
